Liverpool opinion: Should Jurgen Klopp sign Sandro Tonali?

According to a report from Calciomercato, Roma, Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan are all in the race to sign Liverpool target Sandro Tonali. The Italian teenager was heavily linked with the Reds back in January and his performances have alerted the Serie A’s finest in recent weeks.

Tonali’s Brescia are currently on top of the Serie B table and are favourites to win the league and achieve promotion to the Italian top-flight next season. Le Rondinelle’s position in the league table is majorly down to the performances of Tonali, who looks to be the real deal despite his young age.

The teenager has missed just two games all season and has been in fine form, having scored 3 goals and provided 7 assists so far this season.

His numbers are phenomenal for a player who has mainly played as a defensive midfielder and at just 18 years of age, he has shown incredible maturity on the ball.

Like former Brescia star Andrea Pirlo, Tonali is a calm and composed figure in the midfield, whose technical ability on the ball is a joy to watch. Tonali’s style of play is very much like the Italian legend as he bases his whole game on possession and is always on the lookout for a pass.

Tonali’s positional discipline at such a young age is phenomenal as the youngster always seems to have awareness of where to receive the ball. His passing is one of his biggest assets and he is capable of spraying balls to any corner of the pitch with pin-point accuracy.

The youngster boasts of a tremendous right foot and is capable of both finesse and outrageous power, which helps him score absolute worldies from distance.

This trait will be a massive hit in the Premier League where the youngster will be able to find space to take his shot from outside the box.

Tonali will do incredibly well under a manager like Jurgen Klopp, who has a history of giving a chance for young players to develop their game. The German boss has successfully helped a number of players fulfil their potential and Tonali could do just that if he decides to move to Anfield.

Conclusion

Sandro Tonali is by no means a finished product who can come in and start for Liverpool but the Italian has shown real promise at such a young age which is a huge sign for any big club out there.

Tonali has to move to a bigger club to enhance his development and Liverpool with their lack of young defensive midfielders would be an ideal destination.

Liverpool securing the services of Sandro Tonali ahead of all the clubs interested in him would be a gem of a deal and their midfield will be in safe hands for the next decade.

Jurgen Klopp should make it a point to seal the deal for the youngster in the summer before his performances attract other big clubs from around the globe.
