3 Players Who Are Worthy Of Liverpool Breaking Their Club Record Fee – Including A Chelsea Target

Share

Jurgen Klopp, in his first summer transfer window before the start of the current season, managed to get in some decent stars to the squad to improve it but he was left with a positive net spent for the window which angered a few Liverpool fans. However, the manager is reportedly ready to spend big at the end of the season and is looking to add some star players to their squad in the summer. Klopp has been looking at some of the biggest names in world football and might have to pay over the odds to get them to sign for the club. Liverpool have never spent above £35m on a player in their history but this summer we might see Klopp break this record. But who should he break it on? Here are three players who are worthy of breaking Liverpool’s transfer record this summer:

Virgil van Dijk (Southampton):

Another Saints star that can make Liverpool a far better side than they are now, Van Dijk is currently one of the best defenders in the league. He moved to the St Marys not so long ago and though he picked up an injury recently, has established himself as a key player in the squad. He has signed a contract extension not so long ago but all the top Premier League clubs are looking to snap him up this summer including Liverpool. The Reds’ relation with the Saints in the previous windows could give them an edge and though Southampton reportedly rejected a £60m bid from Chelsea in January, he should cost nothing more than £40m, which should break Liverpool’s record, and also denote value for money.

Van Dijk would be worthy of Liverpool spending their money on him.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon):

Another star who has extensively been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer is Lyon star Lacazette.  A respected French journalist has named Liverpool as one of the three teams that could land him in the summer but he will cost around £40m to £50 million according to reports. It is almost twice the current record at Anfield but he is a player who can solve many problems at the club. Lacazette is a prolific goal scorer who can make things happen even on the dullest day. Liverpool have been lacking a player who takes his chances and if they can add Lacazette’s scoring prowess and his form to the squad, then £60m would be a worthy transfer record break.

Lacazette would be a perfect signing for Liverpool.

Mateo Kovacic (Real Madrid):

A midfielder who could solve every problem for Liverpool next season, Kovacic is not really up for sale but Liverpool can always try to test their resolve with a bid in the summer. The Croatian international is not quite the first choice for Zidane this season but he has had a decent time at the Bernabeu. However, if he is put up for sale with Zidane looking at other alternatives, the move could cost Liverpool around £30m. Klopp can assure him of regular game time to lure him to Anfield and if he is able to land him, he can turn into the star that makes the difference for Liverpool in the years to come.

Kovacic would be a piece of business.
