‘Lasoggas was insane, twice the footballer Wood is’ – Leeds Fans React To 5-0 Win Over Burton+Player Ratings

Match Report: Leeds United 5-0 Burton Albion

Leeds United trounced Burton Albion 5-0 in the 6th round of fixtures in the EFL Championship, courtesy of a brace from new signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga, along with strikes from Kalvin Phillips, Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe.

The script couldn’t have been written any better for debutant Lasogga, as he opened the scoring in the 20th minute, with a neat finish. Midfielder Phillips doubled the Whites’ lead 15 minutes later, before Hernandez added a third before half-time, from the penalty spot, to all but put the game to bed.

Ten minutes into the second period, Roofe heaped more misery on the visitors, with a brilliant strike to make it 4-0, before Lasogga capped his debut with a second goal soon after, with a headed effort this time around.

Here’s how the Leeds’ players fared on the day:

Leeds United Player Ratings

Felix Wiedwald – 6/10

Will not see a more comfortable outing than this. Had absolutely nothing to deal with in goal.

Luke Ayling – 7.5/10

Always on the charge going forward aggressively. Had little to do on the defensive side of the game, with the Whites dominating everything.

Pontus Jansson – 8/10

Little threat to deal with, but was comfortable against whatever little came his way. Had a chance to score.

Liam Cooper – 8/10

Continues to build on a solid start to the season, with another steady and rock-solid performance in the heart of the defence.

Vurnon Anita – 7/10

Offered a great outlet down the left-hand side, but was unfortunately taken off at half-time due to injury concerns.

Eunan O’Kane – 8/10

Grabbed the assists for the first two goals, from Lasogga and Phillips. Was steady in the middle of the park.

Kalvin Phillips – 8/10

Aggressive, tenacious and full of energy in the midfield. Capped the display off with a well-taken goal in the first-half.

Kemar Roofe – 8/10

Looked a threat each time he was on the ball. Scored a goal in the second half from 20-yards out, before crossing for Lasogga’s second.

Samu Saiz – 8.5/10

May not have scored or assisted on the day, but conducted the play beautifully in the attacking third for Thomas Christiansen’s side. He is turning out to be an inspirational signing.

Pablo Hernandez – 9/10

Bossed the game from the kick-off. Was at his best, with some deft touches and lovely passes, exploiting the space. Scored from the penalty spot as well.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 9/10

A debut to remember for the German forward. Scored a couple of well-taken goals, won the penalty and assisted Roofe for the team’s fourth goal. Could have had more before being withdrawn. Brilliant.

Substitutes

Stuart Dallas – 7/10

Replaced the injured Anita at half-time. Had all the license to run forward, given that the Brewers rarely threatened.

Mateusz Klich – 6/10

Replaced O’Kane in the 56th minute. Yet to find his best form, but displayed glimpses of what he can do, after coming on.

Jay-Ray Grot – 6/10

Came on for Lasogga after the hour mark. Lively presence at the top.

The fans were certainly delighted with their team’s big win and here’s how they reacted on Twitter:
