Brilliant Gabriel Jesus – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester City Players From The 5-0 Win Against Liverpool

Manchester City thrashed Liverpool 5-0

Full Time: Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool

Manchester City were ruthless against a 10 man Liverpool side as Guardiola’s men struck 5 past the Merseysiders at the Etihad. Despite a threatening start from Klopp’s Reds, Manchester City struck first blood through Sergio Aguero, who became the League’s all time leading non-European goalscorer with that goal.

Following Sadio Mane’s collision with Ederson, which resulted in a sending off for the Senegal winger, Liverpool were left with just 10 men against a dangerous looking City attack. Manchester City went into half-time with a 2-goal lead with the second one coming from Gabriel Jesus.

The second half only got worse as the Sky Blues tore Liverpool’s shaky defence ending the game with a 5 goal margin. Gabriel Jesus and substitute Leroy Sane bagged a brace each as City took home all three points.

Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson Moraes (7)

The Brazilian goalkeeper only lasted for 37 minutes in front of goal before receiving a boot to his face from Sadio Mane. He looked sharp until he was on the pitch and made a couple decent saves initially in the game.

John Stones (7)

The young English defender had a good game as he looked composed throughout the game. He even had a decent shot at goal but was saved by Reds keeper Mignolet.

Benjamin Mendy (7)

The French fullback was solid at the back and was even better going forward. Mendy also provided a beautiful cross for Leroy Sane, which was the team’s 4th goal.

Nicolas Otamendi (6)

The Argentine was a bit sloppy and found it hard to handle the pace of Mohamed Salah for most part of the first half. But he did settle down well in the second half, despite a yellow in the first.

Kyle Walker (7)

The English fullback had a good game against the Reds and held his head in tight situations. He also got an assist for Sane’s 2nd goal, which was at the stroke of 90 minutes.

Fernandinho (7)

The Brazilian midfielder acted as the pivot for Manchester City and won possession high up the pitch, and was involved in the first two goals.

David Silva (6)

It was a bad outing for the Spaniard as he barely got involved in the attack. He looked a bit out of place throughout the game.

Kevin de Bruyne (9)

The Belgian was finally off the mark for the season, after a disappointing start. He set up the first two goals of the game and was at his brilliant best. A man of the match performance from the midfielder.

Danilo (6)

Did not have much to do in terms of defending but made the most number of passes in the game (115).

Gabriel Jesus (9)

The Brazilian is proving to be a worthy buy for Man City. It was an exceptional performance against a hard working side like Liverpool. Was always a threat in the box and bagged two goals in the game.

Sergio Aguero (8)

Aguero was at his vintage best as he once again found the net against Liverpool, against whom he often scores. The Argentine scored one and set one up for Gabriel Jesus.

Substitutes

Leroy Sane (9)

The German winger was outstanding after coming off the bench, as he grabbed a brace in the last ten minutes of the game. Sane definitely will be a contender to start next week.

Eliaquim Mangala (6)

With absolutely no pressure whatsoever, Mangala barely had to break a sweat after coming on.
