Cherry on top? – Liverpool fans would rejoice Klopp rejecting a move to join arch-rivals back in 2015

Klopp rejecting Man Utd to join Liverpool is perhaps the best thing for the Merseysiders

As per a report published by The Sun, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has claimed that Jurgen Klopp rejected the Manchester United managerial position in 2015, as he hated how things were run by the Red Devils’ executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Fowler suggests that the Reds idol snubbed Woodward’s advances in 2015 due to the latter’s obsession with money (h/t The Sun).

Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers and brought the club’s European glory days back at Anfield. He led Liverpool to their sixth Champions League title in history and first since 2005. He was an inch closer to leading the Reds to their first-ever Premier League title as well.

Liverpool gathered their highest ninety-seven points last season and yet, they remained just one behind winners Manchester City.

Klopp has created a genuine squad that is capable of being title contenders this season and have already gained eight points more than second-placed Manchester City. Even though their Champions League campaign hit a minor setback after losing to Napoli 0-2 in the group stages, the Reds seem to be showing no signs of slowing down.

Klopp has a contract with Liverpool until the 2022-23 season, which will complete his 7 years at Anfield – the same time he spent at Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05.

Manchester United, on the other hand, stuck to Luis van Gaal in 2015 but turned towards three-time Premier League winner Jose Mourinho in the next season.

Jose Mourinho

Mourinho led United to Europa League glory in his first season and a second-place finish in the Premier League in the following season. But due to poor results and internal politics, United sacked Mourinho in December 2018 and hired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the role.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, they are set for the foreseeable future with a visionary like Klopp at the helm. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for their bitter rivals Manchester United anytime soon.
