Predicted Hull City line-up to face Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship

Hull City were wasteful and error-prone in their opening day loss to Aston Villa. Manager Nigel Adkins must be very frustrated and disappointed with his team’s performance, especially since it was at home. Hence, the Tigers need to ensure that they come back and put up a better show away to Sheffield Wednesday.

Making wholesale changes to the line-up won’t make much sense, as this is just the start of the season. Adkins might be tempted to give another chance to the players who faltered on Monday. Hence, we may just see one change from the team which started on Monday.

Probable Hull City XI

Manager: Nigel Adkins

Formation: 4-4-1-1

David Marshall (GK)

Marshall wasn’t at fault for the goals conceded against Villa, so he might well have to buck up his defence to do a better job in front of him.

Eric Lichaj (RB)

Lichaj was decent in the right-back position, covering the ground diligently at both ends. He should keep his place in the team.

Reece Burke

Reece Burke (CB)

Burke was comfortable playing out from the back but was a little susceptible in defending the right spaces. He will need to improve to continue playing in the heart of the defence.

Jordy de Wijs (CB)

Was nervous and error-prone in the previous game and must improve his overall game, or Adkins might bench him soon. The central defenders need to be stable for any team to succeed, and de Wijs was anything but that.

Stephen Kingsley (LB)

Had a bright start to the game but struggled to sustain his performance level. So he needs to be consistent enough in the upcoming games.

Markus Henrikson (CM)

The Hull City captain was good but had a few anxious moments. So he needs to ensure that he remains a calming influence in the midfield.

Daniel Batty (CM)

The youngster continued his pre-season form with a decent performance in the midfield. He will improve further as the season goes moves forward.

Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen (RW)

Impressed in the last game with his livewire performance. He should keep up his form if Hull are to get the win this Saturday.

Todd Kane (LW)

He was one of the star men for the Tigers in a lost cause. Hence, he will certainly start this Saturday with a hope to keep impressing.

Evandro

Evandro (CAM)

Evandro scored very early in the game against Villa and was very sharp in his movement and passing. Defenders will be terrified to face this prospect this season.

Nouha Dicko (ST)

Fraizer Campbell was mediocre this Monday and so Adkins might make a change and start with Nouha Dicko this Saturday.
