Derby County vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions: Derby County line-up

Frank Lampard’s Derby County came from behind to beat Wigan 2-1 at the weekend, thanks to second-half goals from Mason Bennett and Scott Malone.

The Rams now shift their attention to 13th-placed Sheffield Wednesday as they look to achieve a top-6 finish. 

Team News

Lampard’s side have been struggling with injuries, with as many as six players ruled out for Saturday’s clash. Andy King, Craig Bryson, Tom Lawrence, Curtis Davis, Craig Forsyth and Marcus Olsson are all unavailable due to injuries.

Mason Mount is back in training for Derby but isn’t expected to be fit in time for the game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Scott Carson (GK)

The 33-year-old has only kept 5 clean sheets so far this campaign and will look to improve on that tally should he start on Saturday.

Jayden Bogle (RB)

The 18-year-old has been impressive this campaign, having picked up 4 assists so far. He should start at right-back on Saturday.

Richard Keogh (CB)

Keogh has played every game in the Championship so far this campaign and is expected to continue against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend. 

Fikayo Tomori (CB)

The 21-year-old Chelsea loanee has played 33 games so far under Lampard and should partner Keogh at the back on Saturday.

Scott Malone (LB)

The summer recruit from Huddersfield scored the winner against Wigan last game and is expected to continue at left-back ahead of Ashley Cole.

Tom Huddlestone (CDM)

The 32-year-old’s experience in defensive midfield will be vital for Derby in the run in for a place in the playoffs.

Bradley Johnson (CM)

The former Norwich midfielder has made 19 appearances under Frank Lampard this season and has done well in the number 8 role for the Rams. He should start next to Huddlestone on Saturday.

Florian Jozefzoon (LW)

The former Brentford man has scored just two goals since his arrival in the summer and should look to add to his tally in the game at the weekend. 

Harry Wilson (CAM)

On loan from Liverpool, Wilson has arguably been one of the best players in this Derby side, having scored 10 goals so far in 29 games. He should start in the number 10 role on Saturday.

Martyn Waghorn (RW)

The 29-year-old has contributed to 4 goals and 2 assists so far in the Championship and should start on the right flank against Sheffield Wednesday.

The summer arrival from Peterborough has done well for Lampard this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists in the process. He should be at his best to score again on Saturday.
