Predicted Watford FC Line-Up To Face Manchester City In The Premier League

Watford’s unbeaten run in the Premier League could be under threat when they face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Vicarage Road this Saturday.

The Hornets have had a solid start to the new campaign under the new management of Marco Silva and are yet to taste defeat this term. They occupy 4th place in the league table, with 8 points from 4 games – having won two of them and drawn two. Last week, they trumped Southampton 2-0 away at the St. Mary’s, but the Citizens will pose Watford’s sternest test of the season.

Team News

Defensive woes for Silva and Watford continue as they will be without a number of players at the back. Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Prodl have been ruled out for the game, along with Craig Cathcart, who will not be available until January. Miguel Britos too is unavailable due to suspension.

Kiko Femenia, who was taken off due to a head injury last week, has been cleared fit to play. Roberto Pereyra too is back in training and is edging close to a return to first-team action, while Mauro Zarate too is progressing well.

Here’s how the Hornets could take the field against the Sky Blues:

Manager: Marco Silva

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Heurelho Gomes (GK)

Gomes has kept three consecutive clean sheets in the league now, but will have to be at the top of his game if he is to keep City out.

Daryl Janmaat (RB)

The Dutchman returned from injury last weekend, and scored, coming off the bench. Could get the nod ahead of Femenia, even though the Spaniard has been declared fit.

Daryl Janmaat

Christian Kabasele (CB)

The Belgian centre-half has started the season strongly and impressed in the last two games for the Hornets. However, the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus will pose a whole new level of threat.

Adrian Mariappa (CB)

With so many injuries in the backline, the 30-year old is likely to get his first league start of the season, after having replaced Kaboul last week.

Jose Holebas (LB)

The Greek left-back should man the left-hand side of the defence and will look to keep the marauding Kyle Walker quiet.

Jose Holebas

Nathaniel Chalobah (CM)

The former Chelsea man has become a vital cog in the midfield for the Hornets and played a very good game against the Saints last week. Another start beckons.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (CM)

Another constant fixture in the middle of the park, Doucoure will be high on confidence after scoring last week. Will be made to work hard by the likes of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

Andre Carrillo (RW)

Made his debut against Southampton last weekend and looks like a good addition to the ranks. Should keep his place on the right flank.

Nathaniel Chalobah

Tom Cleverley (CAM)

The former Manchester United man has made a strong start to the campaign and has cemented the No.10 spot for himself. Will be keen to do well against his old rivals.

Richarlison (LW)

The Brazilian attacker has been an exciting addition to the squad, with his pace and ability to beat his man. A definite starter on the left-side.

Andre Gray (ST)

Leading the line for Watford, should be Andre Gray. The 26-year old is yet to score a goal for his new club and the occasion could just be right for him to begin something special.
