Predicted Southampton Line-up To Face Watford In The Premier League

Southampton will welcome Marco Silva’s Watford FC to the St. Mary’s Stadium this Saturday as they clash in match-week four of the Premier League.

Prior to the international break, the Saints did not have the best of the starts to the season, having drawn two of their league encounters and winning their game against West Ham 3-2, thanks to a late goal. They were also dumped out of the EFL Cup by Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers. They sit 8th in the league table, with 5 points and new boss Mauricio Pellegrino will be keen on getting three points against the Hornets, who are level on points with them.

Team News

There are no injury or suspension concerns for the manager and has all his players available for selection for the clash against the Hornets.

Manager: Mauricio Pellegrino

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Fraser Forster (GK)

The England international is the preferred option for the manager between the sticks. Has kept two clean sheets already and will want to add a third.

Cedric Soares (RB)

The Portuguese international is a consistent performer for the Saints and will be a part of the team that will walk out against Watford.

Cedric Soares

Jack Stephens (CB)

The youngster has stepped up nicely in Virgil van Dijk’s absence and should start the game, despite the Dutchman staying put at the club.

Maya Yoshida (CB)

The Japanese international is likely to partner Stephens in the heart of the defence, ahead of new summer signing Wesley Hoedt.

Ryan Bertrand (LB)

Completing the back four will be former Chelsea man, Ryan Bertrand. He enjoyed a decent couple of games away on international duty with England and will look to continue the form.

Ryan Bertrand

Mario Lemina (CM)

The club-record signing from Juventus, Mario Lemina, could be given his third start as one of the two pivot positions in the middle of the park.

Oriol Romeu (CM)

Partnering the former Juventus man will be Oriol Romeu, who has silently grown into one of the most imposing central midfielders in the Premier League.

Dusan Tadic (RW)

The Serbian international will occupy the right flank. He will look to impact the proceedings for the South Coast club by cutting inside from the wing.

Dusan Tadic (middle)

Steven Davis (CAM)

The captain will occupy the No.10 position for the Saints and dictate the play from behind the striker.

Nathan Redmond (LW)

Starting out wide on the left-hand side will be Englishman Nathan Redmond. Will pose problems to the Watford defence with his pace and direct running.

Manolo Gabbiadini (ST)

Leading the line for Pellegrino’s men at the St. Mary’s on Saturday will be Italian Manolo Gabbiadini. The former Napoli man has found the back of the net once so far in three games and will be keen on adding more goals to his name.
