Predicted Newcastle United Line-up To Face Swansea City In The Premier League

Newcastle United will take a trip to Wales this weekend, as they gear up to face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, on Sunday.

The Magpies, after a bad start, showed signs of resurgence with an impressive 3-0 victory over West Ham United before the international break. Manager Rafael Benitez will be hoping that the lay-off in between doesn’t hamper their momentum going into the game.

Team News

Defender Chancel Mbemba picked up an injury on international duty with Congo and is ruled out for close to a month. Benitez will also be without two of his striking options as Dwight Gayle is likely to miss out due to illness and as Aleksandar Mitrovic is suspended for three games. Jonjo Shelvey too is ruled out as he serves the last of his three-match ban.

Paul Dummett continues to be unavailable, but there is a slight boost with Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin set for a return to the side.

Manager: Rafael Benitez

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Rob Eliott (GK)

With no new goalkeeper arriving on the deadline day, it seems like Benitez will continue with Eliott as his No.1 between the sticks.

Jesus Gamez (RB)

Yedlin might be fit, but it is unlikely he will be thrust into action straight away, meaning that 32-year old Jesus Gamez might get the nod at right-back.

Jamaal Lascelles (CB)

The captain has slotted in nicely and has looked solid after having replaced the injured Lejeune in the line-up. Expect him to start against Swansea.

Ciaran Clark (CB)

The Irishman got himself on the scoresheet against West Ham and looked in great form at the back as well. Will partner the captain at the heart of the defence.

Javi Manquillo (LB)

With Chancel Mbemba set to miss out, Benitez might have to call on summer signing Javi Manquillo to do the job at left-back, instead of his more natural right-back position.

Matt Ritchie (RM)

The winger was in fine form in the triumph over the Hammers before the break. Would want to carry on from where he left off.

Mikel Merino (CM)

The loan signing is slowly starting to display what he will offer to the team and was highly impressive against West Ham. Should start in the midfield.

Isaac Hayden (CM)

Merino will continue to be partnered by former Arsenal man Isaac Hayden in the middle of the park, after his excellent display in the previous game.

Christian Atsu (LM)

On the left flank will be summer signing Christian Atsu. The former Chelsea man has the pace to cause troubles to the opposition defence.

Christian Atsu

Ayoze Perez (SS)

Operating in the hole behind the main striker will be Spaniard Ayoze Perez. The 24-year old showed what he can do if he gets going, in the win over West Ham and Benitez would want a repeat of that.

Joselu (ST)

The summer signing from Stoke City hit the ground running, scoring the opener against the Hammers before the international break. Should get his second start.
