Predicted Manchester United Line-up to Face Southampton In The Premier League
Manchester United continued on their merry way, as they put four past Everton in the previous league game last weekend. It was their third 4-0 victory this season and they are looking bang in form, going into this weekend’s game against Southampton.
The Saints are not an easy side to beat, especially at home, and Jose Mourinho will know that his side need to be at its best to take all three points from this tie. The manager is expected to field his strongest side.
Team News
The Red Devils have no new injuries to worry about. Star midfielder Paul Pogba and versatile defender Marcos Rojo remain sidelined alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who remain the only absentees for this tie.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Jose Mourinho
GK – David de Gea
The Spaniard is one of the first names on the team sheet for Manchester United and will certianly start in goal.
RB – Antonio Valencia
Valencia is one of the most experienced players in this Manchester United team and should start at right-back.
CB – Eric Bailly
One of the most in-form defenders in the league at the moment, Bailly has been solid at the back for United and is expected to start this weekend.
CB – Phil Jones
Though Lindelof is itching to play, Mourinho will not look to experiment and should stick with Jones to partner Bailly at the back.
LB – Matteo Darmian
The lack of trust on Luke Shaw and injury to Rojo should see Mourinho use Darmian as a left-back in this tie.
CM – Ander Herrera
With Pogba out injured, United will turn to their 2016/17 ‘player of the season’, to add mettle and creativity to their midfield.
CM – Nemanja Matic
The former Chelsea man has been impeccable in the middle of the park for United this season and should keep his place in the side for this tie.
RW – Juan Mata
The Spanish playmaker has been used sparingly by Mourinho but he should start on the wing this weekend.
CAM – Henrikh Mkhitaryan
After a sensational start to the campaign, Mkhitaryan was quite in the last two games and will look to bounce back with a goal or assist against the Saints.
LW – Anthony Martial
The Man of the Match in the League Cup victory against Burton, Martial deserves to start ahead of Rashford on the left wing.
ST – Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian has hit good goal scoring form early this season and will look to continue his form against a gritty Southampton side in this game.
