Predicted Leeds United Line-up To Face Millwall In The EFL Championship

Leeds United will travel to the Den this weekend as they prepare to take on the newly-promoted Millwall in the 8th round of fixtures in the EFL Championship.

The Whites are on an excellent run of form which sees them on the top of the table with 17 points from 7 games (5W, 2D). They are coming into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Birmingham City at home on Tuesday night and manager Thomas Christiansen will be hoping that his troops continue the great start to the new campaign, against the Lions on Saturday.

Team News

Liam Cooper is expected to be fit and ready for action, after being taken off injured against Birmingham on Tuesday. Loan signing Matthew Pennington too is close to a return but is unlikely to be involved in the game. Caleb Ekuban remains out.

Here’s how Leeds could take the field against Millwall on Saturday:

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Felix Wiedwald (GK)

The German shot-stopper has now kept 7 clean sheets in the Championship and an 8th one is very much on the cards on Saturday.

Luke Ayling (RB)

The Englishman is a consistent performer for the Whites, with his constant surging runs from right-back and defensive solidity. Certain starter.

Luke Ayling

Pontus Jansson (CB)

The giant Swede has been crucial in the Whites’ successful start to the season. Will look to lead the side to another shut-out.

Liam Cooper (CB)

The captain is expected to be okay after being injured during the midweek. An influential figure on the field, he should start alongside Jansson.

Gaetano Berardi (LB)

The versatile left-back made his return from injury in the midweek, coming on from the bench, and may be handed his second start of the season against the Lions.

Eunan O’Kane (CM)

The Irishman has been one of Leeds’ best players in the new campaign and should continue to feature from the get-go at the Den.

Kemar Roofe

Ronaldo Vieira (CM)

The youngster hasn’t been given a lot of game time, mostly due to the brilliance of Kalvin Phillips and O’Kane. But Christiansen could look to rotate and bring in Vieira, handing Phillips some rest.

Kemar Roofe (RW)

The former Oxford United man has been immense this campaign, but was benched for the midweek clash. Expect him to return to the playing XI.

Samu Saiz (CAM)

The former Huesca man has been brilliant since joining Leeds in the summer. Scored against Birmingham to take his tally to 6 goals in all competitions this season already. Definite starter.

Samu Saiz

Stuart Dallas (LW)

The 26-year old Northern Irishman was the other goal-scorer for Leeds against Birmingham and should be in line for his first start of the season, replacing Pablo Hernandez.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga (ST)

Leading the line for the Whites will be summer signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga. Has had a great start to life in the Championship and will want to continue in a similar vein of form.
