Some news can really shock the fans and make them go totally crazy. Similar was the case with Arsenal fans when a story broke out that the Gunners had signed 16-year-old Rex Secco for a price of £34m on Sunday afternoon, as per claims. Funny little world, isn’t it! The speculations spread all over the news, after being first let out on Twitter.
The claims were trending as opposition supporters went ahead and mocked the north London side for the buy. It has been revealed now that the whole claim was a hoax, which was orchestrated by marketing agency Social Chain, to the build-up for Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester.
Social Chain is known to create content which gets pushed across social networking sites like Twitter and the news was shared in various communities in sports, fashion, fitness and entertainment.
The agency’s CEO Steve Bartlett also went ahead at Soccerex’s convention and mentioned that they had been behind the whole thing, the whole time.
Gooners were quite keen on manager Arsene Wenger signing a few good outfield players, but that was not eventually the case.
