He’s Not Needed – 3 Reasons Why This Injury Prone Attacker Should Leave Liverpool

Big clubs are known for their history, their trophies, their great venues, their loyal fans and their biggest players and matches. However, if there’s something else big clubs are known for, it’s for destroying talented young prospects by giving them no playing time at all.

It’s always a shame to see things like this happen, as big clubs can’t spare to lose a prospect and get into huge bidding wars in order to sign them, just to send them to the bench instead of loaning them, or letting them rot in the minor academies if they don’t fit their new coach’s plans.

That’s exactly what’s happening to English starlet Danny Ings, who hasn’t been able to live up to the hype that surrounded his Liverpool singing a couple of seasons ago due to the arrival of several players and a major injury that kept him sidelined for most of his first season at Merseyside.

Ings, a Brendan Rodgers signing, doesn’t seem to be in Jurgen Klopp’s plans, as his team is just demolishing their rivals in the offensive end and  there’s no need to look for options on the bench right now, so he’s been relegated to the second team after his full recovery, but fr the second time running, the former Burnley man picked up an injury that will reportedly keep him out of the action for the rest of the season.

So, let’s take a look at the 3 main reasons why we believe Ings should leave Liverpool.

He’s not needed

Danny arrived at Merseyside after several seasons at Burnley, where he showed his great talent despite being Charlie Austin’s substitute.

However, his arrival came at a time when Brendan Rodgers was looking for an insurance policy for the injury-prone Daniel Sturridge, signing Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino, Sergi Canos and Divock Origi as well, so you know they were kind of gambling and hoping one of those guys turned out to be a fine substitute of Luis Suarez.

A year and a half later, Klopp has established a very nice rotation and he doesn’t seem to need the services of the talented forward, and even if Sturridge winds up leaving, he’s been very comfortable with throwing Firmino at the 9 with Origi coming off the bench.

He doesn’t fit in Klopp’s style

Klopp enjoys to go ahead and throw guys with great mobility into the pitch, as he orders his forwards to constantly rotate in the offensive half of the field in order to make opposing defences dizzy.

That’s one of the reasons why Sturridge has struggled to be consistent under the German’s command, as he’s more of an inside of the box kind of striker and so is Ings, and even if Danny’s very talented, he’s not as proven as Sturridge, who’s only getting playing time because he has a lot of credibility into the locker room and not because he’s having a good time. But besides all of it, even if Klopp tends to deploy a target man formation, Ings will only be a third choice for him, hence, it is no point in staying at the club where you are a deputy of another deputy.

His youth

Ings just turned 24 and after what he’s been doing for Liverpool’s second team and his past at Burnley, you know he’ll have more than one suitor whenever he’s made available once again by the reds, as his best years are yet to come.

With teams like Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester United struggling to get anything going against opposing defences, Danny could provide a big boost to their rosters and he couldn’t cost them a big buck like other names in the market.
