Hernandez Out, Ogbonna And Reid To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 West Ham Line-up That Moyes Might Field Against Watford

Predicted West Ham United Line-up To Face Watford In The Premier League

West Ham United will kick off the David Moyes era, with an away fixture against Watford FC at the Vicarage Road, on Sunday.

The Hammers have had an abject start to the new campaign as they find themselves in the early relegation battle, sitting in 18th place after 11 games in the Premier League. They were thrashed 4-1 by Liverpool in their previous outing, which resulted in Slaven Bilic being shown the doors by the club and the appointment of Moyes.

The former Sunderland manager isn’t the most popular choice and will be under pressure to get things right from the get-go. A win against the Hornets, who themselves have hit a rough patch of late, would be the perfect way to get things started.

Team News

Star striker Javier Hernandez is set to miss out against the Hornets, after picking up an injury while on national duty, while right-back Sam Byram is ruled out until next month due to a thigh problem. Defender Jose Fonte is a slight doubt owing to an ankle injury whereas Michail Antonio and James Collins are close to a return, but might not be involved this weekend.

Manager: David Moyes

Formation: 4-4-2

Joe Hart (GK)

The England international has been the preferred option in goal since his arrival in the summer and Moyes is unlikely to change that.

Joe Hart

Pablo Zabaleta (RB)

The Argentine did not feature against Liverpool before the break but should be back in the team for the clash against Watford.

Winston Reid (CB)

The Kiwi defender will return from international duty only a day prior to the encounter. But given his importance to the team, he is likely to be thrust into action straight away.

Angelo Ogbonna (CB)

With Fonte and Collins doubtful, Reid could be partnered by Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna in the heart of the defence.

Aaron Cresswell (LB)

The 27-year old Englishman should keep his spot in the playing XI at left-back, ahead of Arthur Masuaku.

Cheikou Kouyate

Cheikhou Kouyate (CM)

In the middle of the park, Senegalese midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate is expected to feature from the get-go, to make his 10th Premier League appearance of the season.

Pedro Obiang (CM)

Alongside Kouyate, it should be Spaniard Pedro Obiang. The former Sampdoria man has been one of the better players for the Hammers this term and will want to keep going in the same way.

Andre Ayew (RW)

The Ghanaian attacker has been in decent form coming into the game and in the absence of Michail Antonio, Moyes will rely on him to provide a spark from the wide area.

Manuel Lanzini (CAM)

The Argentine midfielder is the creator-in-chief for the Hammers and he will need to be at his best, for the team to bounce back from the slump.

Marko Arnautovic

Marko Arnautovic (LW)

The club record signing hasn’t been able to make the kind of impact he was expected to, but the new boss might look to give his confidence a boost by backing him to come good.

Diafra Sakho (ST)

The striker fired Senegal to the FIFA World Cup 2018 and will be high on confidence. With Hernandez not available, he should be the preferred striker to face Watford.
