Has This 27-year Old England International Been A Hit Or Miss At Liverpool?

Adam Lallana certainly has gotten a new lease on life at Liverpool and under Jurgen Klopp. The 27-year-old moved from Southampton to Liverpool in 2014 but hasn’t been able to find his form at the club, until the last three months or so.

Lallana does have a lot of quality, especially when it comes to his first touch, probably he has the best first touch in the Liverpool squad. He also is quick on the spin and has often had some rather incredible flicks and tricks which helps him move out of tight spaces on the pitch but being a luxury player is not what Liverpool require at the moment.

Lallana certainly has increased his work rate at Liverpool, especially under Jurgen Klopp and that will keep him in good stead for the future when Klopp does bring in a few players of his own. But for all his ability there has always been a question hanging about Lallana’s time at Liverpool.

The former Saints star moved to Liverpool at the start of last season and was expected to help reduce the impact of the loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona but Lallana and the team struggled a lot under previous manager Brendan Rodgers.

Lallana did have a few great performances but they weren’t enough to showcase what he could be all about when playing for Liverpool. The attacking midfielder just couldn’t click and scored just six goals all season for the Reds, when he scored 10 in the previous campaign with Southampton.

The Englishman though has been better in the second half of this season with Klopp and had a starring role when the team defeated Manchester City at home. Lallana also has had to deal with playing in a range of positions since he joined the side and the competition for playing right behind the striker certainly is heating up with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho joining the party and staking a claim for that position.

For all the ability that Lallana has not been at his best or even close to the form he achieved at Southampton a couple of season’s ago. He was also included into the Premier League team of the year for the 2013-14 season and that shows what he can be capable of if he is given the right role in the team and the time to shine.

Lallana has scored five times this season and could well end up with a couple more by the time this campaign ends. He hasn’t been the greatest signing for Liverpool but he hasn’t been the worst one either, certainly a work in progress but Lallana probably has just till the end of next season to prove if he has become a hit or a flop for Liverpool.

Time to work hard for Lallana, especially with the Euros coming up, no time like shining now and proving your importance to the manager.
