Green The Only Saving Grace – The Best And The Worst Rated Leeds United Players vs Brentford

Leeds United Lost 2-0 Away To Brentford

Leeds United were subjected to a second defeat in a matter of three days as they were beaten 2-0 by Brentford at the Griffin Park on Tuesday night.

The Bees opened the scoring in the 19th minute through Romaine Sawyers, before Lasse Vibe made it 2-0 fifteen minutes after the first goal from a close-range effort. Garry Monk’s side could not muster up a great deal of chances in the attacking third and paid for it with three points.

The result meant Leeds stay in their fifth place and with Sheffield Wednesday winning on the night, the gap between the fifth and sixth positions reduced to just three points. In what was another disappointing outing, here is how the Leeds players fared on the night:

Leeds United Player Ratings

Rob Green – 8/10

Brilliant in goal. If not for the veteran shot stopper, the scoreline would have been so much worse for Leeds on the night.

Luke Ayling – 5/10

Returned to the line-up after suspension. Was given a torrid time by the brilliant Sergi Canos. Looked suspect in defence and the marauding forward runs were missing as well.

Kyle Bartley – 5/10

Should have scored but instead opted to head the ball across the goal. Lack of assurance at the back and was bailed out by Green on plenty of occasions.

Pontus Jansson – 5/10

Reinstated to the line-up but was taken apart by the Brentford attack, who got in behind him on plenty of times. Far away from his best.

Gaetano Berardi – 5/10

Was his usual aggressive self on the left-side of the defence, but struggled to make a serious impact going forward.

Liam Bridcutt – 4/10

Another poor performance from the club captain. Failed to impose himself in the midfield area once again and it is becoming a regular occurrence. Maybe he will be benefited with some time on the sidelines.

Kalvin Phillips – 5/10

Came into the side in place of Ronaldo Vieira. Struggled to get into the game and for some spells it was like he wasn’t even present on the field.

Modou Barrow – 5/10

Started his first game for Leeds after arriving in January. Largely ineffective in the first-half, but did work the goalkeeper on a couple of occasions in the second period.

Pablo Hernandez – 4/10

The Spaniard is struggling in recent weeks. Failed once again to pull the strings from the No.10 role and his set-pieces weren’t up to the mark either.

Stuart Dallas – 4/10

Back to the line-up against his former club, Dallas struggled to have any sort of positive influence on the proceedings.

Chris Wood – 4/10

Once again for the second game in running was deprived of the service and had to feed off the scraps. Can’t expect him to keep delivering when given nothing to work with.

Substitutes

Alfonso Pedraza Sag – 6/10

Replaced Stuart Dallas in the 59th minute. Showed a few flashes of brilliance and asked some questions of the Brentford defence. Should have started the game.

Kemar Roofe – 5/10

Came on for Barrow in the 66th minute. Had one shot at goal saved, but was a passenger for most of the time.

Souleymane Doukara – 5/10

Came on to replace Bridcutt in the 72nd minute. Made no impact whatsoever.
