It has now been confirmed that reigning La Liga and European champions Barcelona did not make an enquiry for Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, as per what Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has now said. Recently his compatriot Neymar had stated that the 23-year-old winger’s “style suits Barcelona”, which had further raised speculations linking the Reds’ star to the Nou Camp.
The fans of the Merseyside club were worried that their attacking midfielder could be on the verge of leaving Anfield and off to Spain soon. Also, former skipper Steven Gerrard recently stated his concerns about Barcelona and their league rivals Real Madrid’s potential interest in the highly talented star.
However, Balague clearly dismissed all such rumours and stated that there had been no discussions involving the player, during a recent question and answer session that took place with Sky Sports, as per Revista de la Liga.
