Liverpool’s captain Steven Gerrard has a real bonding with the club and its fans and it has been evident in many situations. When asked to leave the club in search of trophies by many pundits, the only answer given by Stevie G was:
Gerrard hoping to extend his contract“I’ve got absolutely no intention of ever going to play at another club. Even now I can say I’d love to finish my career here, and then stay in the game after that.”
Gerrard’s current deal is set to expire only at the end of the next season and the player is not drawn by the media about his contract rumors. Gerrard only hopes to extend his contract and stay at Anfield. Speaking at a golf event for his charity ‘The Steven Gerrard Foundation’, says he is more than capable of contributing for the club for many more years.
“We will have to wait and see,” said Gerrard. “I am contracted for another 18 months or so, and I am really happy here. “I’m enjoying my football, I feel physically strong, and I want to go on for a long time yet. I love playing for the club, I love being the captain. It’s living the dream, so to speak. I’m enjoying playing under Brendan Rodgers. The training is good, it’s a very exciting time, and hopefully I can continue to play and to contribute under the new regime.”
In other news, Gerrard was impressed with his team’s performance against Norwich as Liverpool picked up their first victory of the season and moved to 14th position.
“We’ve been doing fantastically well of late and not getting the results,” he added. “It gives you huge confidence and belief to go into the next game.
“We knew if we listened to the manager, to his message, the first win would come. It should have come against Manchester United last week, but we knew that with the same dedication and effort against Norwich, it would come in the end, and so it did.”
