Gary Rowett To Make 9 Changes – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Derby County Line-Up To Face Sheffield United

Derby County

Predicted Derby County Lineup To Face Sheffield Wednesday In The EFL Championship

The Rams look on track now, having won their last two league games. The trip to Bramall Lane represents another big chance for Gary Rowett’s men to get three points.

There is surely a big chance and the former Birmingham manager will want to throw Tom Lawrence in from the beginning here and if he does, he is likely to replace the largely ineffective Andreas Weimann on the left of the three behind the front man.

4-2-3-1 should be in the offing again, with the following personnel employed:

Manager: Gary Rowett

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Scott Carson

The one time England ‘keeper remains a solid proposition and tough to beat. Another good performance is needed here on the road.

RB – Andre Wisdom

Another former Liverpool man, Cyrus Christie’s replacement is finding his feet now at right-back for Derby and he can start again.

CB – Richard Keogh

Fair play to Keogh, there is competition at the back and he keeps producing the goods.

CB – Curtis Davies

The summer recruit from Hull City is a quality player still and should put in another composed performance here to help guide his team to three points.

Andre Wisdom

LB – Marcus Olsson

I had a feeling that the Swede would be replaced this summer. However, he remains a settled part of the first XI and will be required here.

CM – Tom Huddlestone

Another player signed from Hull, they’ll be missing him badly over there at KCOM and his guile will be put to good use at Derby County.

CM – Bradley Johnson

Already settled next to Huddlestone, he and the former England man look like a good pairing in the centre of midfield.

RW – Johnny Russell

Russell has the huge responsibility of adequately replacing all the goals provided in the past by Tom Ince. Those goals could now come from the other side.

Tom Lawrence

CAM – Matej Vydra

Could do better given his reputation you might think, though the former Watford man has quality and may yet pop up with a goal here.

LW – Tom Lawrence

The former Leicester man, brilliant in this division on loan at Ipswich last season, could give Derby the goals and assists they need after Ince’s departure and may start here, having settled in at the club now.

ST – David Nugent

It was thought Derby should be looking for a prolific front man for their title tilt. However, Nugent’s two goals at Bolton were a timely reminder that he retains plenty of ability himself.
