From London To Liverpool? Should The Reds Move Again For This Chelsea Striker?

A season which ended with a heavy defeat at the hands of Stoke and Liverpool missing out on Champions League football after just one season back in Europe’s elite competition, Liverpool might have had defensive problems last season but this season has been more about their lack of goal scoring options.

No player in the club reached the 15 goal mark this season and their highest scorers this season were the outgoing Steven Gerrard and a player who is destined to leave the club, Raheem Sterling. Liverpool need to fix their striker problems as they already have the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli, but they couldn’t score against a U10 football team, well Sturridge was injured for most part of the season so he is exempt from this.

Liverpool are in desperate need to sign a striker who can chip in with a few goals when Sturridge does not get to play and while they missed out on signing this player last season, they could make a move to ensure they get him before the start of this season.

From London to Liverpool?

Last season, it was a shoe-in for Liverpool to sign the French striker, Loic Remy, from QPR but due to some condition they found out during his medical in America, they decided not to sign the player. Chelsea didn’t hesitate and took in the French striker by meeting QPR’s release clause.

The Frenchman didn’t really get to play that many games for Chelsea as Diego Costa was given the role of the number one striker at the club, but Remy did chip in with 9 goals in all competitions for Chelsea but he isn’t the number one striker there and any professional player would want to play more games at the most crucial stage of their career. Latest rumours suggest that Chelsea are interested in signing Benteke from Aston Villa. If this move happens, most probably Remy will be sold in Summer.

The question is if Liverpool would want to sign him or even if Remy would want to come. The ignominy of almost signing for Liverpool and then being rejected by the club on some sort of flimsy ground wouldn’t bode well with Remy or his representatives should Liverpool come calling. The Frenchman isn’t the worst striker in the World and possesses good finishing skills; he is fast with the ball as well and often takes up a good position to take in the goals. Liverpool do need someone who can help them create goals.

Someone who will take the ball from outside the box or even further out and will be willing to run into the box or help his teammates out, that is something that Remy cannot do as such. Liverpool do not need another striker who prefers to play in the box, they need someone who plays outside the box and wants to create goals. Unfortunately, Remy  does not tick this box and London seems to be the destination for him next season.
