Arsenal vs. Aston Villa: FA Cup final prediction

The big day is here, Arsenal face Aston Villa in their biggest game of the season. The Final of the FA Cup sees two of England’s biggest clubs go head-to-head against one another. Aston Villa will be looking to carry their survival form into the FA Cup final and win the trophy while Arsenal will be hoping that they can get their stars to do the deed and retain their trophy from last season.

Either way, the game has been set up intriguingly with both clubs having a real chance of finishing the season with a trophy. Aston Villa will be reliant on the goal scoring form of Christian Benteke while Arsenal will be hoping that Alexis Sanchez can get over his rather average form and fire the Gunners to a victory, we preview the game and predict on just who would be celebrating come the end of the game.

Villa haven’t won the FA Cup since 1957 and they will be hoping that their star striker does the deed for them on Saturday. Christian Benteke has scored 12 goals in his last 12 games and it is this kind of form which could help Villa play and cause a major upset. Benteke would also be looking forward to play against a central defensive pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, not the strongest pair or the quickest and this is where Villa could exploit the one weakness that Arsenal have.

On the other hand, Arsenal will be looking at their attacking quartet of Sanchez, Ozil, Giroud and Ramsey and hope that they can click one final time this season. Sanchez did score in the last game and would be looking forward to a trip at Wembley, Arsenal will also be licking their lips at another chance at Wembley, they have not only beaten Aston Villa the last three times they have met, they have won their last four appearances at Wembley.

The X factor in this game could be the form of Fabian Delph; he has had a decent enough season but has shown glimpses of why a lot of teams are keeping tabs on the English midfielder, his role down the middle for Villa could be extremely crucial to decide how the game goes. Arsenal will be looking at the role of Mesut Ozil; the German is due for a good game for the club and what better way to show that you are still one of the best in the world than during the FA Cup final?

Predicted Arsenal lineup:
Ospina; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Cazorla, Coquelin, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez; Giroud

Predicted Aston Villa lineup:
Given; Bacuna, Vlaar, Baker, Richardson; Cleverley, Westwood, Delph, Grealish; Agbonlahor, Benteke

Prediction

The game should be a tight and nervy affair, but we would pick Arsenal to just nick it by the odd goal, however if they Gunners do score early, it could be a hammering for Villa.
