Forget Signings: Rangers Should Sell These Two Players At The End Of The Season

Rangers haven’t managed to deliver big on their return to the Scottish Premiership. Despite a steady season that sees them at 3rd place in the standings, much more was expected from the Gers. The fact that they are a whopping 33 points behind leaders and bitter rivals Celtic indicates the gulf between the two clubs this term.

Rangers made a change at top level, with the management not being happy with the direction in which the team was going. They let go of former manager Mark Warburton and appointed a relatively unknown Pedro Caixinha earlier this month.

The Caixinha era began with a triumphant 4-0 win over Hamilton Academical. However, a lot of work is to be done ahead of the next season, if they are to get closer to Celtic and challenge for the Premiership title. The Portuguese manager will definitely look to bring in players in the summer, as he goes about shaping the team in his own vision. This would mean some of the members from the current squad leaving the club in the summer. Here we pick out two stars who will be heading out of the Ibrox Stadium.

Rob Kiernan

The 26-year old has been one of the biggest liabilities at the back for the Gers this season and has been one of the main reasons why they have struggled to find stability at the back.

Kiernan has appeared 23 times this season in the Premiership and has scored once. He has picked up four yellow cards and was also suspended for two games recently due to a red card. His inconsistent displays at the back have hurt Rangers. The former Wigan Athletic defender has looked bereft of confidence and on many occasions has made rookie mistakes on the field. As a result, he is heavily disliked by the supporters and they will be glad to see him leave in the summer.

Philippe Senderos

Senderos is another centre-back who has struggled to add any sort of value to the team and should be shown the door in the summer window.

The former Arsenal defender had a horror show on his debut against Celtic where he was sent off after the hour mark after picking up two yellows. The Gers went on to lose the game 5-1 and since then, Senderos has made only 3 appearances, with one of them coming in the cup-tie. His lack of pace and a lack of positional sense has been a huge weak link. Given that he has a contract that will expire at the end of the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Caixinha not offer him a new deal at the end of the season.
