2 Players Sean Dyche Must Sign In The Summer If Burnley Are To Fight For The Top 10 Position Including Hull City Star

Sean Dyche Must Target These Two Players If They Are To Continue Their Premier League Dream Run Next Season As Well

Burnley have been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League this season. The Clarets got promoted to the top tier this season and have been performing beyond expectations.

Sean Dyche’s side find themselves in the 13th spot in the league standings this season and with 9 league games yet to be played, they stand an outside chance of making it to the upper half of the table. They have been one of the best teams at home this season, having collected 29 points from 14 fixtures at the Turf Moor. However, they have been the poorest team on the road in the league, with just 3 points from 15 games.

Defying the odds, the Clarets will be staying up in the league for the next season and will do so by achieving a decent mid-table finish. However, they will be aiming to do one better and achieve a top-half finish in the upcoming season. And for that to happen, strengthening the squad over the summer will be of paramount importance.

In this regard, we pick out two players who Burnley must target in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Harry Maguire

The 24-year old defender has grown into a mainstay in the backline for Hull City this season and has established himself as a key member of the squad under Marco Silva.

Maguire is one of the brightest centre-halves to have come through this season and has been targeted by the likes of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur as well. The defender has made 29 appearances this season across all competitions and has scored once and also has three assists to his name. Standing tall at 1.88m, Maguire is a daunting presence at the back and shows great defensive nous and understanding.

Post an injury to skipper Curtis Davies, Maguire has taken up the mantle as the leader of the defence and has impressed heavily. Someone who is equally comfortable on the ball and a force in the air as well, Burnley should definitely have a look at him, especially with concerns over the future of Michael Keane who could be on the way out amid interests from almost all the top clubs.

Jermain Defoe

The 34-year old has been an outstanding performer for Sunderland this season and despite his advancing age, he has shown that he still has what it takes to continue at the top level.

Defoe has been brilliant for the struggling Black Cats and has scored 14 times in the league from 28 appearances along with 2 assists. Sunderland find themselves at the bottom of the table and are in extreme danger of relegation this season. So, it wouldn’t be hard to convince the England international to make a move.

Given Andre Gray’s intermittent injury problems and also the fact that he is being targeted by some bigger clubs, Burnley would be hugely benefited by bringing in Defoe, who will add a wealth of experience and to Burnley.
