Forget Signings: Here Are 3 Players Liverpool Should Send On Loan

Share

Jurgen Klopp, since taking over as Liverpool’s head coach has brought about a positive change which is clearly evident. Last season, Liverpool were a major force in the Europa League and some performances in the Premier League showed what Liverpool can achieve under Klopp. But last season was very hectic, with the Reds playing 63 games in total in all competitions. Liverpool finished an unsatisfactory 8th in the Premier League and were runners-up in the Europa League. So next season, Liverpool will not have European action and their focus will be only on the Premier League. Compared to last season, the number of matches will be less. Squad rotation will be less next season and so the squad is expected to get thinner. Liverpool could send a few players on loan. This will be advantageous to the players as well as to the club. Here are 3 players who Liverpool could send on loan.

  • Jordon Ibe

The young English winger’s time at Liverpool so far hasn’t been very good. Ibe joined Liverpool at a young age of 16 but was then sent on loan for two seasons until Brendan Rodgers called him up for the first team. Ibe has the talent but lacks consistency. The recent signing of Sadio Mane means that Ibe’s chances of making it to the first team are thin. Ibe needs proper game time under his belt and at Liverpool, he is surely not going to get it. A season on loan will help him gain some confidence. He did show glimpses of what he is capable of but just glimpses won’t help him. Reports suggest that West Bromwich Albion are after Ibe and a loan move to the Hawthorns will be good for him.

  • Sheyi Ojo

In the beginning of last season, Ojo was sent on loan to Wolverhampton but was recalled by Jurgen Klopp in January. He made his debut as a substitute in an FA Cup tie against Exeter City and scored in the replay of the match. Ojo always came behind Coutinho and Lallana in the pecking order. He is highly talented and at 19, he can become one of the best attacking midfielders in English football. Ojo made 8 appearances last season in the League but next season, he will not get many chances. Ojo needs proper game time if he wants to develop into a complete player. And at Liverpool, he will not get it. So a loan move to a different club, where he will get sufficient game time will help the 19-year-old.

  • Connor Randall

Connor Randall is a talented right back and has impressed in all the games that he has played for Liverpool so far. In the beginning of the previous season, Jon Flanagan had injury problems which meant Connor Randall made some surprise appearances. But Nathaniel Clyne is in exceptional form and he will surely be the first choice right back next season. Also, Jon Flanagan has recovered from his injury and he will be the second choice for Jurgen Klopp. Connor Randall is a talented right back and needs good competitive football. At Liverpool, he will hardly get a place in the starting eleven which could affect his development. A season on loan away from Liverpool and then a few seasons under Klopp will be perfect for Randall’s development. He signed a new deal in December last year which means his future at Liverpool is certain.
