Forget Others – 3 Strikers Liverpool Should Try To Sign This Summer

Share

Liverpool have been missing a top quality striker in the recent times for sure. And Jurgen Klopp could well be looking to bring some new faces at the club. Recently he confirmed the signing of Joel Matip from Schalke but what about the strikers ?

Their prolific striker Daniel Sturridge mostly enjoys his time on the sidelines due to the injuries and the team had to rely on their midfield to get a goal. After the departure of Luis Suarez, the team has been struggling a lot without a ‘Pure Striker’, someone like Fernando Torres, The El Nino. At the age of 25, Torres established himself as one of the Liverpool greats and wore a proud number 9 jersey.During his times at the club, he was described as having and eye for the spectacular. The Spanish star who won the Euro for Spain was technically very gifted. He had the ability to find himself in goal scoring positions, using his pace and vision to get in behind defenders.

After the Legacy of El Nino, Luis Suarez took over the reins. The striker joined the Reds in the 2010-11 season £22.8 million. Suarez eventually became an elite player among the forwards of the world. His work rate was superb, not just in scoring goals, the Uruguayan was also capable of creating the goal scoring opportunities for his teammates. He was a goal poacher and was particularly famous for nutmegging the opponents. He was praised for his quickness and his superb finishes. He formed a great partnership with his team-mate Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling during his days at the club. But, in 2014, he joined Barcelona and since then the club has been struggling a lot mostly due to the constant injuries of their only experienced centre-forward Daniel Sturridge.

Here are the 3 strikers who Liverpool should sign to retain the Legacy which Fernando Torres and Suarez left-

Mauro Icardi-

A lethal goal scoring machine for the Mancini’s side. This player has been on the radar of many English teams for a long time. He was the product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy. The player is famous for making the most of the limited situations. Capable of scoring with both feet, this player could be a special signing for the Liverpool’s side and could surely replace Sturridge in the first team.

Icardi is a quick and a tactical player with an eye for goal. At just 23 years of age, he has scored 13 goals in his 27 Serie A appearances for the club. If he improves his passing abilities, he can be a specialist in the attacks of Liverpool.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang-

He is one of the highly rated stars in this season. The 26-year-old has been an immensely productive player for his side. Scored 23 goals in his 26 appearances for the club this season, he has become the most wanted striker in the world. He won’t be short of options if he decided to leave this summer. The player can bring back the attacking magic at the Anfield. The player is capable of playing in every attacking positions as well as and attacking midfielder. Aubameyang is the set-piece specialist and is now becoming a worldwide sensation. He loves to harass the defenders with his blazing pace and we can see the improvement in his gameplay almost in every game. Klopp has been appreciated by the fans due to his amazing counter attacking style, adding Aubameyang to his squad will increase their chances of getting the goals in a counter-attacking run.

Gonzalo Higuain-

The player had a major growth under the management of Rafa Benitez in Naples. In 31 appearances for his side, he has scored 30 goals in this season’s Serie A competition. He is a hardworking striker and a prolific goal scorer capable of shooting the ball with both feet. He is also a good header of the ball and is capable of holding the ball and laying it off to his teammates. The player is known for his pace which makes him an obvious threat at the time of counter attacks. After the lack of playing time in Madrid due to the arrival of Benzema, he joined Napoli where he had an amazing tenure and eventually caught the eyes of the big guns of the England. Klopp must try to sign this player as he is capable of answering every questions in the attack.
