Forget Mbappe – It Is Time Arsenal Look To Sign One Of These Three Quality Goalscorers Including This Manchester City Superstar

Three Alternatives For Kylian Mbappe Who Arsenal Can Consider

Why Mbappe when there are better options? Remember when a certain kid from Santos, ‘Neymar da Silva Santos Junior’ received a bid from almost all European Superpowers? Or when a Martin Odegaard flirted with almost every European club, visiting their clubs and training facilities before signing for Real Madrid? Or when an unproven championship winger Wilfried Zaha was a subject of some serious bidding war between some big English clubs? It is safe to say that only one of these 3 gambles have paid rich dividends so far.

The next teenage sensation who has joined this ever-growing list of expensive gambles is Kylian Mbappe. He is probably the 2667th player to be labelled as the next Henry and is even subject to a rumoured £87m bid by Arsenal. But is he the player Arsenal need? Will they outbid the other financial superpowers of Europe? Will he have the maturity to lead the line for Arsenal and prove his price tag in the supercritical premier league? The answer could be a yes but is still a huge gamble for a manager who is hungry for success in what could be his final two years at the helm. Here are 3 realistic targets for Arsenal who offer more reliability than Mbappe.

1. Alexandre Lacazette

French, pacey, confident, decorated in Ligue1, yet to be proven on bigger stages – Lacazatte has one too many similarities to Mbappe. The two things that Lacazatte offers more than Mbappe are consistency and reliability. While Mbappe is the new kid on the block, Laca has been quietly consistent in Ligue1. Lacazatte has scored more than 90 goals for Lyon in the last 3 seasons. He would be looking for a new challenge and it is a good time for Arsene to poach his compatriot to London. Lyon are resigned to losing him this season and a decent bid should see him wearing red and white next season.

Sergio Aguero

Manchester City officials would have scoffed at any bid for the Argentine hitman last year. But what a difference a year of football makes? Guardiola and his brand of extravagant attractive football always have their star casualties. The most recent star to this list is Aguero. City’s golden boy is now a dispensable asset in their new brand of football. Gabriel Jesus fits Guardiola’s football better and the Argentine was benched quite a few times last season. Arsene, who is always on the lookout for cheeky signings (remember how Ozil was signed from Madrid) should grab the chance. He is Premier League’s most consistent striker in the last 5 years and ticks almost all the boxes needed for a successful striker. And what more? He probably will be cheaper than Mbappe.

3. Alvaro Morata

A Spanish striker who scored 20 plus goals with a goal/assist once every 55 minutes; Experience playing for both the champions league finalists in consecutive years – Just two of the most amazing lines from Morata’s resume. A strong yet mobile striker with experience in the top league, it doesn’t get much better than Morata. Though he is younger than Benzema and even boasts of better stats than Karim in 2016-2017, its hard to see Benzema being sold. Benzema is crucial for Madrid’s gameplay, especially his selfless acts of playing second fiddle to Ronaldo and dropping deep often. And with Zidane’s strong interest on Mbappe, Morata could be available at a decent bid this season.
