Forget Joe Mason – Here are 2 quality replacements who Wolves can target including Swansea City star

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Joe Mason has been sent to the United States, with Colorado Rapids signing him on loan.

The Rapids had already signed Wolves’ Jack Price back in January and Joe Mason will link up with his former Molineux teammate, though it’s unclear as to whether or not Mason will leave the club permanently before next season.

Leo Bonatini, for now at least, is only on loan at Wolves as is Benik Afobe, while at only 20 years of age, Rafa Mir still has some learning to do before he can be trusted to lead the line in the Premier League.

With this in mind, Wolves will definitely need reinforcements during the summer and here are two candidates for the job:

Jordan Ayew (Swansea City)

A lot depends on what happens to the Swans between now and May with relegation still a distinct possibility.  Should they go down, then a move for Ayew would become even more of a possibility but in any case, he’d make a good signing for an ambitious promoted side.

The 26-year-old Ayew has netted 5 goals and has created another two in the Premier League this season from 27 games – not a bad record at all for a player turning out for a club which has, for the most part, struggled badly at the bottom end of the league.

The former Marseille and Villa man wouldn’t cost the earth and that’s something which also sits well with Wolves, despite them having flexed their muscles at times in the transfer market.

William (Chaves)

Wolves, of course, have great links with clubs and agents in Portugal and it’s easy to see them brokering a deal for the Brazilian striker who has 8 goals and a single assist from 17 games in the Primeira Liga this season.

At 26, William is another player who is only just about to reach his peak and what is more significant is that he is of the same age as Joe Mason.

Given that fact, you simply have to ask yourself whether you believe William is better than Mason and the answer most people would give is a ‘yes’.

Improvement is the name of the game when you get promoted to the Premier League and so this simple point means William is an obvious type for Wolves who may yet add to their Portuguese speaking contingent under Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux.
