The 26-year-old German has been heavily linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen in the past and would certainly fit the bill at Arsenal. If Wenger is looking for a cheaper option, or even a stop-gap loan signing, then Bender could fit the bill. With Bender not getting enough playing time in Bayer, a move to Arsenal might help him revive his career and he would be a decent fit with his strong tackling and energy complementing Wenger’s men. He can also play as a forward midfield player from where he has scored numerous as well as a more defensive role which Wenger is looking for.
