Forget Charlie Taylor – Here Are 2 Super Left-Backs Leeds United Could Target

Charlie Taylor

Leeds United stand a great chance of making it to the Premier League next season. The Whites sit 4th in the EFL Championship standings and look set to seal a playoff place and will vie for promotion at the end of the season.

While striker Chris Wood has been leading the charge for Leeds this season with his goals, the likes of Pontus Jansson and Charlie Taylor have been equally vital at the back for Garry Monk’s squad. However, as the season end nears, it looks increasingly likely that left-back Taylor will be leaving the Elland Road in the upcoming summer.

The 23-year old is in the final few months of his current deal with the club and has shown no interest in entering into negotiations with the club and has made it no secret that he would like to leave at the end of the season.

While Gaetano Berardi has shown that he is more than capable of taking upon the mantle at left-back, Leeds will definitely need to bring in a proper replacement in the transfer window; especially if they get promoted to the top division of the English football. And here we pick out two options who could help Leeds replace Charlie Taylor.

Andrew Robertson

The Hull City left-back is one of the most highly rated young left-backs in the country at the moment and could be the right man to replace Taylor.

Robertson has grown in stature with Hull City having first impressed heavily in the 2014-15 season under Steve Bruce in the Premier League. The 23-year old has continued to develop and impress and looks to be the real deal. Someone who can attack with pace and defend with solidity and steadiness, Robertson can make a big difference to the Leeds side.

Considering that Hull City are involved in the relegation scrap and that the full-back has a contract that will expire in the summer of 2018, he could be available on the cheap and can be convinced to move if the Whites gain promotion.

Emilio Izaguirre

The Celtic left-back has been replaced by the young Kieran Tierney in the playing XI for most parts of the season and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he will be available on a free.

There was interest from Leeds in the January transfer window, but there was no progress made. However, with Izaguirre set to leave in search of first-team football, Monk can make a move for his signature. The 30-year old has played only 16 games this season for the Bhoys and has registered 2 assists.

The Honduras international is a seasoned professional with plenty of experience in the Scottish league, having been with Celtic since 2010 and can prove to be a great alternative to the young Gaetano Berardi in the squad.
