Why Pochettino Over Arsene Wenger Would Be The Perfect Choice For Paris Saint-Germain

Money is not everything in football and cash-rich Paris Saint-Germain once again learned that lesson in the round of 16 in the Champions League. After spending millions of euros in the summer transfer window to purchase players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, Unai Emery’s men failed to hold back a struggling Real Madrid side as Los Blancos showed them how it is done in both legs of the encounter.

Now, with a bruised ego (and a bruised bank account as well), PSG are understood to be scanning the market for a new manager and the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Arsene Wenger are believed to be on their list of candidates. One of these managers is definitely more capable than the other and not many people will disagree to that.

Pochettino has remarkably revamped Tottenham after taking charge of them and has turned them into a force to reckon with. A mainstay in the top-six, Spurs have put up a very tough fight with their North London rivals Arsenal in the past few years and if things continue the way they are, the Argentine gaffer can win trophies with them as well in the near future.

More than anything else, it is his dynamism and freshness that has appealed to the Tottenham faithful. Be it his tactics or his calm demeanour in the dugout, Pochettino is a flagbearer for the new breed of managers coming into the game. And when compared to Arsene Wenger, Poch seems like the better choice by a long mile – based on recent performances, at least.

Arsene Wenger

Wenger has done brilliant, path-breaking things in the past and there are certain milestones he has achieved that probably no other manager can ever achieve. However, as a leader in this modern age of football, he has failed. Hence, PSG are likely to be better off with Pochettino.

However, considering the manager’s commitment and loyalty towards Tottenham, it is highly unlikely that he would leave a club he is so passionate about. Pochettino has, in fact, been very vocal about his unwavering dedication towards achieving the vision he has in mind for Tottenham. Furthermore, the fans love him and his style of play, thus making it all the more unlikely for Poch to leave all that and move to a different league to start afresh.

In a recent interview, the manager even mentioned that he wants to be like Wenger and stay loyal to a single club. Thus, Spurs fans can heave a sigh of relief because it does not seem like Pochettino is going anywhere anytime soon.
