West Brom Opinion: Kenneth Zohore would be a top buy for the Baggies

According to a report from BBC, West Brom have had a bid of around £8m accepted for Cardiff City’s Danish striker Kenneth Zohore.

The Danish striker, 25, is in the final year of his contract with the Bluebirds, for whom he has scored 24 goals in 101 games.

He scored just one goal in the Premier League last season but his campaign was disrupted by injury. Before that, Zohore established a solid reputation in the Championship and played a key role in the club’s promotion to the top-flight last year.

West Brom failed to achieve promotion this past season as they faltered in the semi-finals of the playoff against eventual winners Aston Villa. Slaven Bilic is the man in charge at the Hawthorns and with the right additions over the summer, he can have a massive impact on any West Brom.

The Baggies are desperate for a striker, after losing Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez since the end of last season.

Salomon Rondon is also set to leave the club, with the Venezuelan international close to signing for Rafael Benitez’s Dalian Yifang in a £16.5 million deal. With that in mind, Zohore could be a good fit at the Hawthorns.

Strong in the air and with fantastic pace to burn, Zohore has already shown he can rip apart Championship defences at will.

His strength, hold up play and ability to score almost all kind of goals makes him a really good player. The bid Dane is also known for his tenacity and hardworking nature, so one can understand why Bilic is keen to add him to his squad.

The 25-year-old has an excellent positional sense and is always on the lookout for runs in behind the defence. Furthermore, he is blessed with raw pace and power that can link up with teammates and create scoring opportunities in the final third.

Zohore’s potential arrival will hand a significant boost to the Baggies attack and Bilic could be the right manager to extract the best out of him in the Championship next season.

Verdict

Zohore is entering the prime stages of his career and would suit Bilic’s style of play at the Hawthorns. He could ideally revamp the West Brom attack as the club aims to return to the top-flight next season.
