Sheffield Wednesday

Fletcher and Forestieri to lead the line – Predicted 3-5-2 Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Hull City

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday line-up to face Hull City in the Premier League

Sheffield Wednesday succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic on the opening weekend. They need to bounce back before it gets tougher to breach the higher echelons of the table. With the absence of striker Atdhe Nuhio due to a red card suspension, the Owls are thin in that department, and manager Jos Luhukay might have to use Steven Fletcher for 60-70 minutes.

There were mediocre performances and Sheffield Wednesday fans must be hoping for a better show at their home ground. If not, then climbing to the top half of the table might become a tall order already.

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

Manager: Jos Luhukay

Formation: 3-5-2

Cameron Dawson (GK)

Dawson couldn’t do much against Wigan but should continue to be the number one for the Owls.

Tom Lees (RCB)

Lees will have to improve his performance, just like the other teammates in order to be defensively solid.

Joost Van Aken (CB)

Van Aken was shaky and unconvincing at the back. He needs to improve massively, especially since he is playing at the heart of the defence.

Daniel Pudil

Daniel Pudil (LCB)

The veteran handled himself well physically but couldn’t cope with the pace at times. Hence, he needs to make sure that he stays in his position and doesn’t get dragged out.

Liam Palmer (RWB)

Palmer was alright defensively but struggled to harness impact going forward. He should get another game to prove his worth in the team.

Adam Reach (LWB)

Reach was one of the better players for Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday, and expect more from him in the coming games.

Sam Hutchinson (RCM)

He laboured in the midfield against Wigan and will need to up his game before there is any danger of losing ground.

Barry Bannan

Barry Bannan (CDM)

Bannan was tidy in possession last game but could have offered more support to the back-line. He has to make sure he shields the defence and should be influential in building up play from deeper areas.

Joey Pelupessy (LCM)

He really struggled to do well in the previous game and switched off for one of Wigan’s goal. Pelupessy needs to improve his game or risk losing his place to Kieran Lee, who is getting fitter day by day.

Fernando Forestieri (ST)

The striker has to show more quality in the final third. Despite scoring the goal, he was very flashy and showed glimpses of quality instead of producing it consistently.

Steven Fletcher

Steven Fletcher (ST)

With Nuhiu out due to a red card suspension, Fletcher might get a game for 60 mins, which will help the player regain match fitness.
