Five Liverpool Players Who Should Be Worried With Klopp’s Arrival

Share

Time to bring in the changes, that would be the first thought in the mind of most Liverpool supporters and Jurgen Klopp would be thinking something similar as well. Liverpool have got their man but the man has to change a lot of things in the playing style and that will invariably affect some of the players at the club.

Liverpool do have one of the largest squads in the league and had to send a few players out on loan. The club spent a lot of money bringing in Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke amongst others but Jurgen Klopp would be expecting a few more signings in the January transfer window, however he still has to work with the current crop at the moment. A few players might be a little jittery about their future at the club and we list out five players whose playing time at the club could be cut short pretty soon.

Dejan Lovren

Let’s be honest here, Lovren’s name would have been the first one on the list, there really isn’t a lot of doubt that he has been one of the worst performers for the Reds since he signed for them from Southampton and has often looked similar to a Sunday league player. The Croatian could well be the first player to be chucked out in the January transfer window as Klopp has already earmarked a few defenders to bring into the team. Fortunately for Lovren and the other players in this list, they have till December to change Klopp’s mind.

Simon Mignolet

Another player who hasn’t hit the heights he would have expected when he signed for the Reds. Simon Mignolet can very well be replaced with many reports coming in that Klopp has been linked with a move for Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius. Mignolet did have a decent second half of last season but still seems to be extremely unreliable in between the sticks.

Adam Lallana

Klopp wants to bring in rock and roll football and that means he needs players who are running about and are dynamic, while Adam Lallana is certainly one of the most technically gifted players at Liverpool, his performances haven’t been all that great. Lallana would be a great option on the bench but not as a starter, especially when Klopp would want players who can do a lot of running about. Lallana might shine just behind the striker but with the likes of Coutinho, Sturridge and Firmino, he might not get the time he wants on the pitch.

Christian Benteke

The big striker might have been signed recently but he isn’t the kind of striker that Klopp prefers to play with. The greatest comparison that can be made with Benteke is that of Lewandowski and the Polish striker is miles ahead of the Belgian ace. Benteke would have to conform his playing style to suit Klopp’s and that might not be an easy thing for the former Aston Villa striker.

Lucas Leiva

The Brazilian midfielder is the only out and out defensive midfielder at the club but that wouldn’t mean that his role in the Liverpool team is a certainty. He might have been one of the more impressive players in a few games this season but his legs aren’t what they used to be and Liverpool need a more dynamic midfielder in the centre of the park. With reports that Porto’s Ruben Neves could be one of the next signings for Klopp; Lucas’ days might be numbered.
