Fellaini – The Chosen One To Make Arsenal Great Again

Finally the intent of Arsene Wenger is taking up shape. To the excitement of all the Arsenal fans, it has been reported that the club have bid for Everton star Marouane Fellaini and have activated the release clause of the player.

Fellaini had a contract that stated that his release clause was £22m for a club that has qualified for the Champions League and £24m for a club that finishes below the top four. As a result of this clause Arsenal are in an advantageous position than many other clubs to land this midfielder.

If Arsenal successfully bring Fellaini to the Emirates, that would be exactly the kind of addition to boost the strength of the squad. Fellaini has been a superb performer for Everton this season and the fact that Everton have been one of the Champions League contenders for a long period of the season was because of him.

Fellaini mainly plays as a central midfielder for the club and constantly posses threat to the opposition with his pace, bulldogging of the defenders and powerful shots. He has tremendous aerial ability and from the set pieces he is arguably the most alarming players in the league.

He can also play as a defensive midfielder at times and his enormous physical presence becomes an immense obstacle for the opposition. This season he has scored 11 goals from 31 appearances, often proving to be the difference between his team and the opponent. His shot accuracy is 60%, a fair statistics for an impact midfielder.

Fellaini has also often controlled proceedings from the back and dropped below to help his team in the defence. His average defensive actions of four per match validate this point portrays how much workload he could take up week in week out. His average passing accuracy is 79% and this shows his acumen as a player who sets the game from the midfield.

Although it cannot be said right now that Arsenal will be able to complete the move, for both Manchester United and Chelsea are also looking to add him in their team and it would be difficult for Fellaini to snub their offers, the positive frame of mind of Arsenal have come forward which would yield them some important players in the transfer window.
