Does This 21-year Old Liverpool Attacker Have A Future At The Club?

Share

Liverpool youngster Jack Dunn is set for another loan spell, this time at Morecambe. The striker was enjoying a decent preseason with the Reds and now Jurgen Klopp has sent him out to gain some first team experience, something that will certainly help the English striker tone his skills and hopefully give him a chance of knocking on the first team of Liverpool.

Dunn had spent some time on loan at Cheltenham and Burton Albion but none of these deals were long term and this move could well be the move that gives him time to shine for a club on a regular basis.

The 21-year-old has represented England in the U17, U18 and U19 levels and is a Liverpudlian. The youngster has come through the ranks at the club and even captained the U16 side in 2010. He made his debut for the U18 side as well in the same year and continued his development in the Liverpool youth teams.

His greatest achievement was becoming the top scorer for the U21 side in the 2013-14 season and in 2014 he actually got first team action as the English striker came on to replace Fabio Borini in a friendly against Shamrock Rovers.

With Dunn set for great things in the future, let us take a closer look as to what his game play is actually all about.

A bright spark for the future at Liverpool

Dunn actually seemed extremely pleased when the German manager joined the club in 2015 after Brendan Rodgers was sacked by the side.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the 21-year-old said:

“Since the manager has come in there has been a lot of positivity around the club. There is a new opportunity for the younger lads and it has given everyone a massive boost.

“He seems terrific. He is very interactive with the young lads and he is trying to get to know all of us. I can’t wait to work with him.”

While Dunn has finally gotten a few chances this time around, he can now get better at Morecambe. The English striker didn’t actually spend a lot of last season on loan and even had to deal with a nasty hamstring injury which affected his development.

The Liverpool striker however, is bulked up and seems ready to take on the tough world of top level English football. He does have a sharp eye for goal but due to his lack of first team chances, he doesn’t really get to play against the tough defenders for us to understand what he really is capable off.

This season should be a real chance for him to show what he can do with regular football. There have been many strikers coming into the Liverpool team over the years, but have faded away. David Ngoo, David Amoo and even Nathan Eccleston barely made a dent even when they were given a chance to shine in the side.

Dunn might be on his last chance though, at 21 he would not get more chances to impress Liverpool’s boss and if he does make it big at Morecambe, the English striker might well get a recall fairly soon but with the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge ahead of him this season and even for the future, the striker has to make a tremendous impact and soon at his new club to have a real future at the club.
