Why Jurgen Klopp needs to let Ben Woodburn go out on loan

Considered by many to be Liverpool’s next big thing, striker Ben Woodburn needs game time, failing which there is a good chance that he flames out. The 19-year-old has the potential, the right manager and even the perfect team to step into but at the moment, he’s far too young and inexperienced to make an impact.

Despite all his pace, power and movement, Woodburn needs what every youngster needs to improve – game time.

According to Liverpool’s official website, manager Jurgen Klopp will let Woodburn out on loan but only if the right move comes in. The 19-year-old forward has been a part of the Reds side but has made a large majority of his appearances off the bench, struggling to make an impact. But that’s no surprise given his lack of game time at a higher level.

The striker was sent on loan last season but did not make any impact, with just eight appearances for Sheffield United, which is probably why Klopp is being cautious. The Liverpool boss knows exactly how good Ben Woodburn can be under the right guidance. But he needs to do that fast before the transfer window closes, otherwise, the youngster would lose another six months of game time.

That can be devastating at this stage of Woodburn’s career and with time, it could become his biggest downfall. However, given the young 19-year-old’s skill-set, it’s one Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t want to lose, especially now. Young, versatile and capable of playing anywhere across the front line, Ben Woodburn has the ability in his bones to become a great scorer of goals.

If not that, then the 19-year-old can at least become a great forward for any side in the near future but he does have the itch and ambition to go even beyond that. It’s something that’s instilled in a youngster from the time he starts playing football.

For most stars, it fades out by the time they hit their prime. However, at a young age of 19, Ben Woodburn wouldn’t have lost that and the forward is probably waiting for his chance to make an impact for his boyhood club.

Time will improve any flaws that Ben Woodburn has but at the moment, he needs to be able to play football on a regular basis. That is up to Jurgen Klopp and the former Dortmund coach needs to let him go out on loan and allow him to establish himself.
