Though it looked like they turned a corner at Anfield earlier in the week, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool looked their old-self from the start of the year as they were embarrassed yet again by a relegation threatened side Hull City this Saturday. The Reds were back to their best XI with Jurgen Klopp opting to leave Georginio Wijnaldum on the bench for the game and though they dominated the ball for most of the game, Hull City scored from 2 of their three shots on target to take all three points from this fixture. The Reds just could not create enough chances as the return of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane to the starting XI for the first time in more than two months could not lift them to a victory.

Simon Mignolet (4):
Was at fault for the first goal for the home side as he is now showing the signs of his previous form at the club recently.
Nathaniel Clyne (5):
Hardly did anything creative with the ball and though put in a couple of decent crosses, just did not do enough to give his side a win.
Joel Matip (6):
Solid at the back and could not do anything with either goal and was also decent with his distribution on the night for the central defender.
Lucas Leiva (5):
Deputizing for the injured Lovren on the night, Lucas was not too shoddy at the back but his weakness in the air was exposed in Hull’s second goal.
James Milner (5):
Losing his spark as a full-back, Milner, who was hardly tested defensively, could not do enough with the amount of ball he saw in the final third for Liverpool.
Jordan Henderson (5):
Put in a decent shift in the middle of the park but nowhere near good enough to break a firm Hull City defense on the night.
Emre Can (4):
A surprise inclusion in the starting XI, Can is not winning any accolades for his performance on the night for Liverpool.
Adam Lallana (5):
Popped up with some decent passes but drifted out of the game far too often to have any sort of an impression on the tie.
Sadio Mane (5):
The Senegalese winger started the game brightly but he did not do enough to stretch the Hull City defense, falling to his first league defeat this season.
Roberto Firmino (4):
Poor performance from the false-9 who hardly tested Jakupovic on goal for the tigers on a forgettable night for the Brazilian.
Philippe Coutinho (4):
The playmaker was uncharacteristically off-colour on the night as he lost the ball on a number of occasions and also failed to create a decent chance of note.
SUBS:
Daniel Sturridge (5):
Came on with 20 minutes to play but just got a handful of touches on the ball as he failed to have any impact from the bench.
Divock Origi (5):
Did not have enough time to create or score against the Tigers.
Alberto Moreno (5):
Replaced James Milner and his tired legs late in the game.
