Cristiano Ronaldo spoke out today about the league, the Ballon d’Or and the Real Madrid fans yesterday in an interview with Spanish media.
Cristiano Ronaldo addressed the media at Valdebebas on Wednesday, Here are some snippets of his interview:
On his contract renewal and the league title:
“That subject has already been spoken about. I won’t talk about my contract renewal any more, it’s not important. The most important thing is winning our next matches. We are contesting La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League and it’s important that we all stick together. My renewal is not the most important thing. What’s more important is to win the coming games, fight for La Liga and for the Champions League.
The Liga is now very complicated. I’m not going to lie, it is going to be very difficult. But mathematically, it is possible.”
On next week’s Ballon d’Or:
“I’m sincere and I would love to win the Ballon d’Or. Last season we won the league and the Spanish Super-cup, but if I don’t win it, it doesn’t matter.”
On support form the fans:
“Right now I’m feeling more comfortable with the fans, not just at the Bernabéu, where I’ve always felt good, but outside too. They have shown me a lot of love. I want to pay them back in the best way possible, which is playing well and giving my all for the shirt and helping Madrid get to the top.
“We want a perfect start to the year. We are at home, we are the favorites and we need to start well.”
Though Ronaldo has restated his commitment with the Galacticos, the future is still not clear for the player as he is chased by French powerhouse PSG and also strongly linked with a return to Manchester United.
