Cristiano Ronaldo is all set for his comeback after missing out on Saturday’s Serie A fixture against Atlanta with a knee injury.
The Portuguese was seen on the Juventus training ground warming up with his teammates earlier yesterday.
Juve boss Maurizio Sarri conceded Ronaldo will need to be evaluated before their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid. However, the Italian is optimistic that Ronaldo will be ready for the clash in Turin.
Ronaldo himself looks all set to play a part in the mid-week clash when Juventus host Atletico Madrid tonight. The Portuguese star took to Twitter to post some of his training photos and a a message.
The 34-year-old Portuguese international was rested for Saturday’s game against Atalanta. The Old Lady won that 3-1 courtesy a brace by Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain.
Sarri also subbed Ronaldo in two straight games, prior to the international break. One of them was the Champions League clash against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Paulo Dybala replaced the talismanic forward in the 55th minute against AC Milan.
The Portuguese also left the stadium before the match had finished as Dybala put in a late winner.
In the aftermath of the events, rumours broke regarding a possible fall-out between the pair. But both have individually come forward to squash any such rumour.
Sarri also cited the knee injury at the press match conference.
Despite injury concerns, the Portuguese managed to score four goals during the international break. That included a hat-trick and helped Portugal qualify for Euro 2020.
Juventus are already through to the last 16 of the Champions League and will eye to finish at the top of Group D.
Second-placed Atletico Madrid also needing just a win to secure their qualification. Both the sides will clash in the Allianz Stadium on tonight.
Defender Matthijs De Ligt and forward Federico Bernardeschi are in doubt for the fixture. They are suffering from a dislocated shoulder and a bruised chest respectively.
