Could Be A Bargain Or A Risk, But Liverpool Should Do Everything To Sign This PSG Attacker

Share

There’s no improvising when it comes to signing new talents for your team, and now that the winter transfer window is finally upon us, teams need to be extremely careful with who they bring to their ranks in order to make a run at the Premier League title.

Making the right move could have you celebrating at the end of the year while making a mistake could mean that your title chances fade away right in front of your eyes, considering how difficult and competitive the Premier League has been over the course of this year.

So, signing outcasts and players that are young and are yet to hit their prime due to the lack of given opportunities is always a highly risky move, although it could wind up being extremely positive for both sides if things go their way.

Recently, a former Liverpool standout and an England football legend Steve Nicol has suggested that the Reds should make a run at former Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain’s misfit Jese Rodriguez, and we actually believe this move could make a lot of sense and we’ll tell you just why.

Liverpool are currently missing their biggest star Philippe Coutinho, although the Brazilian is set to make a return very soon. However, players like Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana have shown to be really injury prone over the course of their careers and Liverpool is currently lacking some depth at the attacking midfielder position right now.

On top of that, the Reds are set to be without their standout newcomer Sadio Mane during the course of the African Cup of Nations, so they’re going to be quite shorthanded for over a month and they need to bring some talent to the club.

Jese is still quite young at his 23 years of age, and he has proven to be a great talent since his days at Real Madrid Castilla, earning the right to make his professional debut for Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago and becoming a key piece off the bench for Ancelotti’s side.

However, a season-ending injury sent him to the bottom of the bench and couldn’t get back his rhythm, so he was let go to play for Unai Emery at Paris Saint-Germain, but has only been able to make 14 appearances (with just one start) for the struggling French side, scoring 2 goals and disputing just 280 minutes over the season (an average of 20 minutes per game).

With that kind of numbers, it’s only natural to think that the talented Spaniard is going to be looking for a move out of Parc des Princes and Jurgen Klopp could be exactly the type of boss that could bring his career back from the ashes.

Besides, Jese would be a perfect fit for Liverpool’s high octane offence due to his mobility and versatility, as he can play on either flank of the offensive front as well as behind the striker and even inside of the box, being exactly the type of player that Klopp enjoys to have on their teams.

Of course, as we mentioned earlier, this move could be a huge risk for Liverpool if Jese doesn’t bring his A-game to Anfield. Considering the almost non-existent playing time he’s had in France, but if this man manages to be at least 75% of what he was set to be in the earlier stages of his career, he could be a huge bargain for the Reds.
