Chris Wilder To Make 1 Big Change – Strongest 3-5-2 Sheffield United Line-Up To Face Preston

Predicted Sheffield United Line-up To Face Preston North End In The EFL Championship

It’s no win in four for Sheffield United now, though they have faced some tough games and have always remained capable of scoring and causing mayhem going forward. So they will have little fear about heading to Deepdale at the weekend.

John Fleck was sent off in the defeat to Bristol City last time and so will miss out here, though Richard Stearman now seems to have fully recovered and should line up at the back.

Once again, we should see Chris Wilder’s usual 3-5-2 formation in evidence, hopefully featuring David Brooks in the midfield.

Formation: 3-5-2

Manager: Chris Wilder

GK – Simon Moore

Usurped Jamal Blackman last time and may get to keep his place. Blackman is very good but is inexperienced and for a player of his size, he is very likely to need more time to reach his peak in this position so for now, Moore it is.

CB – Chris Basham

One of half a dozen solid options the club have for these positions but fully deserves his spot in the starting XI.

CB – Richard Stearman

Has a Premier League pedigree and it’s good to see the former Wolves and Leicester City man back playing regularly.

Enda Stevens

CB – Jack O’Connell

Much like Stevens, Baldock and Duffy; O’Connell is not a household name to those who perhaps only watch Premier League football but he is rock solid at the back and should once again line up here.

RWB – George Baldock

Solid and reliable, Baldock can start again for the Blades.

LWB – Enda Stevens

I’m not sure how he’d cope in the top division but he has taken the step up to the Championship very much in his stride and will no doubt perform well once more.

RM – John Lundstram

Coming along nicely, as is most of this squad, and the midfielder should carry on in his usual role here next to Duffy.

CM – Mark Duffy

An underrated figure in Sheffield United’s success story and another start would be no surprise.

David Brooks

LM – David Brooks

Brooks is coming along very nicely and is a real talent. He may be asked to play as part of the central midfield three this time around.

ST – Billy Sharp

It’s possible Brooks would have been asked to play just behind Clarke. However, Fleck’s suspension may well mean a slight reshuffle with Sharp retaining his place up front.

ST – Leon Clarke

Clarke has been in terrific form this season and is highly likely to start once again, at Preston.
