Chelsea’s Player Ratings Against Liverpool: Who was the Villain for the Blues?

Share

Asmir Begovic 5.5

Begovic was let down by his defence as he made several fine stops to deny Liverpool but couldn’t prevent the visitors from scoring thrice.

Kurt Zouma 5

Kurt Zouma

Had a good first half in which he saved Lucas’ header going into the goal, but failed to keep Coutinho at bay and began to struggle at right back.

Gary Cahill 5

Combined well with skipper John Terry to stop the threat of Firmino in the first half, but should have done better when the Reds scored their second and third.

John Terry 4.5

The skipper failed to stop Coutinho from his getting his shot at goal for his second before allowing Benteke the space and time to fire in Liverpool’s third goal. He had a below par performance today.

Cesar Azpilicueta 6.5

Azpi was substituted for Radamel Falcao as the Blues were searching for goals. But he had a good game today as he set up Ramires’ opener with a superb cross that came after he had outrun Milner.

Ramires 6

Headed in Chelsea’s opener to give the home side the lead, but was beaten too easily by Coutinho in the build-up to Liverpool’s equaliser. Had a decent game overall.

John Obi Mikel 5.5

Provided cover for Chelsea’s defence in the first half and apart from ha, he didn’t do much in the match.

Willian 5.5

Just like his teammates, Willian too had a great first-half as he was the driving force of Chelsea’s attacking play with his pace and tricky runs but faded in the second period.

Oscar 5

Majority of the game, he played on the left flank but didn’t get involved in Chelsea’s attacking play as much. He made sure that he had Milner at bay while dealing with Clyne’s runs forwards and almost scored a stunner from nearly 40 yards. Another Chelsea player who struggled in the second half.

Eden Hazard 2

0 chances created. 0 take-ons completed. 0 crosses. 0 shots. This sums up Eden Hazard’s performance for Chelsea. He was brought off in the 58th minute for Kenedy.

Diego Costa

Diego Costa 4.5

He disappointed as a striker for Chelsea as Liverpool defenders Skrtel and Sakho controlled him throughout the game. He did well to head the ball off the line in the second half.

Substitutes:

Kennedy 5

Cesc Fabregas 4.5

Radamel Falcao 4.5
