Chelsea have wrapped up the title, but there still is something for Liverpool to play for at the end of the season, the club still have an outside chance of making it to the Champions League if they can pip Manchester United into 4^th spot and to ensure they bridge the 4 point gap to United, Liverpool have to win their remaining 3 games. This means that they would have to defeat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea might be in a joyful mood after winning the title, but no one can expect Chelsea to just roll over for Liverpool. The teams might have contrasting seasons but one thing is for sure, there are some quality players in both teams and we present a combined Chelsea Liverpool XI from the weekend.

Thibaut Courtois

Although Simon Mignolet might have more clean sheets the other Belgian goalkeeper has been more reliable and fills in the goalkeeping position in this combined XI.

Branislav Ivanovic

The best right back in the Premier League, no two ways about it. Enough said really.

John Terry

The captain of the side, Terry has been a revelation as to how to play the game even if you aren’t young and he isn’t here just on experience but due to his form.

Martin Skrtel

This was a tough choice to make, but Skrtel just edges past Gary Cahill as Skrtel has had to play in a tougher defence and has been excellent for a rather poor Liverpool team.

Cesar Azpilicueta

One of the best left-backs in the league, there really is no competition from any Liverpool left back this season.

Nemanja Matic

Probably the best defensive midfielder this season in the Premier League, Matic has been something special for Chelsea who do look rather average whenever they play without him.

Cesc Fabregas

The assist leader in the Premier League, Fabregas might have had a slow second half of the season, but he still breezes into this team.

Eden Hazard

The player of the year, Hazard has grown from strength to strength and would be in anyone’s team.

Philippe Coutinho

His performances led him to being recalled into the Brazilian team and Coutinho has had a good season for Liverpool but he should press on and do more for the club next season if he has to continue his growth.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling might not have had a brilliant season, but he has been the talisman for Liverpool, well apart from Coutinho, he still needs to do better and his second half of the season shows he still needs to learn more.

Diego Costa

Even if Sturridge would have been fit for the entire season, it would have been hard not to include Diego Costa into this team. Scoring 20+ goals in his first season in England is a commendable feat and he should be looking to do more next season and grow from this.
