Chelsea Latest Including: Mourinho’s Fear On Luiz And Wayne Rooney Updates

Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is having a hard time to get the vital members of his squad to full fitness. Veteran player Frank Lampard and Brazilian David Luiz are yet to get into the greatest shape as season looms closer. As things stand now, it will be difficult to get them ready before the start of their Premier League campaign on 18th August.

While Lampard has had a Achilles problem, Luiz had suffered an injury long before during the time of Chelsea’s Europa League final. Both of them had not featured much during Chelsea’s pre season tour, trying to recover from the injury.

“Is Frank ready for the start of the season? No, he still has to train. He has to play against Roma.” Mourinho stated. ““He played 45 minutes against Real, maybe he plays 60 against Roma. He is in the England squad, so it will be good if he plays a part against Scotland.” He added.

David Luiz, who has been such an important member of the Confederations Cup winning Brazilian squad, is in the centre stage of the transfer speculations with Barcelona looking to snatch the defender away from Stamford Bridge.

“If David misses the start of the season, then it’s only because of his injury.  That’s why I’m not risking him. He had a good session in DC and with the fitness guys in Miami, so hopefully there’ll be no problems.” Mourinho mentioned in reference to Luiz’s absence from the final game of the American tour against Real Madrid.

On one hand, while Chelsea are still trying to get their players back to full shape, they have not yet given up hopes on Rooney in spite of Manchester United’s reluctance to let go off their England international. They have reportedly made a bid of £25m for the striker, but former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson has termed the bid as an insult.

“The thing that makes me laugh is I’ve been told it [the latest bid] is £25million to £30million. For Wayne Rooney? A 27-year-old who is probably in the top six strikers in the world? What are United going to have to pay to replace him? I’m amazed at that. I think it is an insult to Wayne Rooney.” is what Robson had to say during an interview to TalkSport.

And as per Rooney’s take on the saga, the striker has took it to the social networking to explain his situation. Rooney who missed quite a lot of pre-season games including Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial match due to a shoulder injury was picked for England’s International friendly against Scotland on Wednesday.

Now Rooney has taken it to Facebook to launch a veiled attack on Moyes by going out of his way to thank Hodgson for not ignoring him.

Rooney said: “Can’t wait to join up with the England squad and hopefully play in a competitive match. They always are against Scotland.

“Big thanks to Roy Hodgson for selecting me and showing his faith and support – appreciate it.”
