A Championship Transfer XI – Players Who Are Expected To Switch Clubs In The Summer

Every year there is drama in the Championship. Teams go up, teams go down and teams stagnate. The upshot of all this is sheer joy for the agents, as a multitude of players move to other clubs in the close-season.

Here we look at a whole team of Championship players who look sure to move away from their current clubs over the next three months:

GK – David Stockdale (Brighton)

It’s an open secret that the stopper from Leeds may yet decide to leave Brighton to join his hometown club. However, a lot depends on what happens to Leeds United’s current ‘keeper Rob Green.

RB – Leandro Bacuna (Aston Villa)

Villa could do without any losses, but Bacuna is rated by Southampton and may find himself in the Premier League next season.

CB – Grant Hanley (Newcastle)

Although the Scot started the season in the Newcastle first XI, he ended it as a clear 4th choice among Rafa’s centre-backs and will look to move on this summer. Derby and Wolves currently head the queue for his signature.

CB – Joe Worrall (Nottingham Forest)

West Brom have checked on the Nottingham-born defender who, at 20, has all of his better years ahead of him in the game.

LB – Scott Malone (Fulham)

Named in the Championship team of the year, Malone has been excellent at left-back and has attracted attention from plenty of Premier League sides.

Tom Ince

RM – Tom Ince (Derby)

Ince looks ready to be reintroduced to the Premier League now and it seems Derby are willing to let him go for around £10million.

CM – Tom Cairney (Fulham)

Fulham’s main man looks a sure fire future England player and very nearly left in January for Newcastle. Rafa will no doubt come back with another bid and with Fulham’s promotion bid ultimately unsuccessful, his departure looks certain.

CM – Aaron Gunnarsson (Cardiff)

Norwich appear interested in the Icelandic central midfielder who may be used as a replacement for Graham Dorrans if he decides to depart.

Tom Cairney

LM – Ryan Manning (QPR)

Bournemouth have shown an interest in the Irish midfielder and given the way QPR have been in recent years, you can’t blame the player for moving on.

ST – Steven Naismith (Norwich)

Former club Rangers are firmly in the hunt and it is very possible Naismith wants to get back closer to home.

ST – Chris Wood (Leeds)

Already crippled by potential personnel losses, Leeds’ top scorer may look for Premier League football and is just the type of player Everton tend to go for.
