According to a report from Daily Mail, Celtic are plotting a move for Rapid Vienna left-back Boli Mbombo. Kieran Tierney has been linked with a £20m move to Arsenal and the Hoops are considering Mbombo, who is rated at £3m, as the potential replacement should the Scotsman leave this summer.
The Belgian youngster had an impressive season in the Austrian Bundesliga, racking up a goal tally of 7 in all competitions.
Furthermore, his consistent displays drew interest from English clubs Burnley and Huddersfield. Prior to his Austria switch, the 23-year-old played for Belgian outfit Club Brugge, where he made an initial impression.
The 22-year-old has been one of the Hoops’ mainstays over a long course of time, yet his contribution to the side with each passing year hasn’t slowed down.
Barring the previous season which turned out to be injury-laden one for him, Tierney has been an integral part of the Celts since he broke into the first-team from the youth ranks. He has garnered 167 appearances for the Hoops’ first-team and has earned 12 international caps for Scotland as well.
Though the Celts would find it difficult to find a replacement for Tierney, one of their finest academy talents and one who is synonymous to their playing style, they can still provide room for a youngster like Mbombo.
The Belgian has the ability to play anywhere alongside the left-flank though he is credited with a better defensive game. He is adept at passing and crossing, with a pass success percentage of 74% in the previous season.

It is indubitable that Celtic would miss Tierney should he opt to seek an exit this summer. Mobombo would be a viable addition to Neil Lennon’s side and it would be a stepping stone in the Belgian’s career.
