Why Celtic should offload Craig Gordon
Celtic under Neil Lennon have signed Fraser Forster on loan from Southampton. The former England international spent many years at Celtic in the past, with two loan spells from 2010-2012 and before signing permanently in the 2012/13 season.
He then made the move to the Premier League with Southampton in the 2014/15 season and Forster had a great time initially but has been fazed out of the squad in recent seasons.
He also won 6 international caps and that means he’s most likely to get Craig Gordon to warm the bench, which is why the Scottish international is likely to leave the club, according to a report in the Daily Express.
Gordon has been a regular since Forster left but had an extended absence of leave last season, which meant that Scott Bain was preferred over him. Bain has a thumb problem, which is why Gordon has featured recently.
Gordon is 36 years old now and is heading into his final years as a goalkeeper. He’s made 3 appearances this season so far in all competitions and made 32 in all competitions last season.
Finding a new club at his age will not be easy but Celtic cannot be carrying passengers as they aim for another dominant season.
Celtic face AIK in their Europa League qualifier before they take on bitter rivals Rangers away from home in the league.
Both Rangers and Celtic have taken maximum points from their first 3 games and Celtic only lead on goal difference, hence, this result could have a maximum effect on how the table could swing. Momentum for both sides will be crucial for the rest of the season.

Conclusion
Lennon has a massive task on his hands and Gordon needs to find a team that he deems ideal for him. Despite his experience, massive frame and quality, Gordon is now surplus to requirements.
