Liverpool vs. Tottenham
Liverpool face Tottenham after both the teams dominated their respective derbies, however it was Tottenham who was able to win their game while Liverpool were left to rue what could have been more than just one point against Everton. This would be a litmus test for Spurs as they have beaten Arsenal and Chelsea at home but beating a Liverpool side would be a feather in their cap as both teams set their eyes on a top 4 place.
The clash sees the top two teams in terms of form facing each other and Liverpool have the option to bring on Daniel Sturridge as he is being nursed back into the team. Liverpool had beaten Tottenham 3-0 at White Hart Lane at the start of the season and will be looking to close the gap to their rivals for 4th place to just one point with a win, seeing two of the best attacking teams go head to head we look at 3 key battles which could swing the game in either teams favour.
1. Can vs. Kane
We would be able to see two of the finest young players in the Premier League go head to head. Emre Can has been extremely impressive during his stint as a centre back in Liverpool’s defence, Can is strong and does have a composure while playing at the back and can play a ball to the forward line while Harry Kane scored his 11th and 12th goal of the Premier League as he helped Tottenham defeat their arch rivals Arsenal.
Neither player gives an inch and if Can can neutralize the effect of Kane, Liverpool could claim all three points in the afternoon.
2. Sterling vs. Eriksen
Raheem SterlingAnother battle of the youngsters, we see Sterling and Eriksen, who both have been the shining lights for their respective teams in attack. Sterling has had an exceptional season but Eriksen has had just as good a season for Tottenham if not better. Eriksen has been scoring left right and centre and has probably been the other player apart from Kane who has pushed Tottenham to the brink of qualifying for the Champions League.
Sterling would love to have a run at the Tottenham defence and it will be a great battle to see how this goes.
3. Sturridge vs. Vertonghen
Daniel Sturridge could make his start since returning from injury, he has played a few minutes in the games against West Ham and Everton and will be looking to give a hard time to the Tottenham defence and would be going head to head against Vertonghen.
Vertonghen will have his hands full but could make a big difference as Sturridge has just come back from injury and if Vertonghen can defend him well at the start of the game, he could neutralize the effect of the English striker. Sturridge holds the key for Liverpool to score and his ability to run at pace at defences could mean the difference between a win and a loss against Spurs.
