What can Pedro provide at Manchester United? Goals, assists and more?

Out with the old and in with the newish, well that should be the mantra at Manchester United at the moment. The fairy tale or nightmare for Angel Di Maria could be ending pretty soon with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, his likely saviours. United though would still be needing another attacker in their team and they could be on their way to sign Spanish winger, Pedro Rodriguez from Barcelona.

The attacker was replaced by Luis Suarez who formed a trident of amazing attackers for Barcelona last season and truth be told, the Spanish winger could not get a look into the team last year. A lack of opportunities again this season could be too much for Pedro and he could be looking to for a change in scenery with Louis van Gaal providing the perfect getaway.

The 27-year-old is the only man to have scored in 6 competitions in one season, a feat he achieved for Barcelona in 2009, but he still can’t seem to get a game for the club. Last season, he played the fewest minutes for the club since he became a professional, something he would like to change, soon.

Pedro Rodriguez might fancy a move to Manchester United after facing a lack of playing time at Camp Mou

Pedro though still has a lot to offer any team he plays for, he not only has great dribbling and control but is one of the best shooters of the ball and was always in the goals columns. He is also a great assist provider and was one of the leaders in assists in La Liga until last season came about for the Spaniard.

Pedro isn’t just about the goals and assists, he is an intelligent runner with and without the ball. The ability for him to attract a defender and pull him away, creates a lot of space for others to run into. Game intelligence is extremely crucial in this day of football and fortunately for United and Barcelona fans, Pedro possess a lot of it.

What will bring Pedro bring to Manchester United?

Manchester United need to bring in someone who can be a threat in the final third. They do not have the likes of Falcao anymore or have a second striker who they can count on. Pedro could very well be that second striker who cuts in from the flank to score those important goals or lay down those assists. The £22 million valuation shouldn’t deter Manchester United from bidding for him, they took a risk with Di Maria last season which didn’t pay off but this would be a great deal for the Red Devils, especially since the player wants to play at the club.
